Can I still sell my CZ SP-01 Shadowline 9mm in Canada?

Sorry if this is in the wrong place. I bought the gun here a few years back & I'm terrible at finding & understanding rules. It's gotten so complicated for me to own a handgun I just want out of the sport. I have an active RPAL & my Black Badge & a membership to my local range. Any guidance appreciated. Thank you.

You can do what you want with it but you can’t legally transfer the registration to 99.9% of Canadians… do as you wish with it and reap the consequences.

just renew your RPAL every 5 years. Don't get rid of it. Once its gone, its gone! Also you will only get a small fraction of what you paid for it back if you sell it to a business here in Canada or export it.

To the Original Poster, Really...... There are those who will never have the opportunity to possess and use this type of firearm. I understand that there are pressures that are required to own these firearms. To all those who still do own and use these firearms, it is a true privilege that has its rewards. What bothers me is this same government is on an all Assault Style Attack calling out all the responsible firearms users that these guns are way too dangerous for people to use them. This is so hypocritical it makes me sick that these people exist and perpetuate this ill to those who handle firearms on a daily basis. Just my take .

Gun ownership in Canada is a privilege just like everything else, not a right. After you lose it one way or the other it's at best nearly impossible to get it back. Maintain valid license and gun ownership unless you want to give them up.

You can't easily sell it or even give it away because no handgun transfers have been approved since October 2022 (except a few very specialized circumstances. That is the so-called handgun freeze. You can theoretically lend it to another RPAL holder, even a long-term loan, if for some reason you don't want it in your possession. Most people would not give up a handgun at this point because you may never have a chance to acquire one again in Canada.

If Canada needs to spend 5% of gdp on defense, we need every gun we have.
That is probably a delusional thought. Irrespective of whatever Canadian government defence ambitions exist, it is unlikely to ever involve personally owned firearms or rely on individual skills training/ability.

Although not impossible to recognise certain individual qualifications and grant associated roles/responsibilities by exception, a military is always focused on formed body training standardisation. A competent civilian shooter may be precise, fast and talented on a range, but warfighting has a lot more than proficiency in squeezing a trigger, working as a collective even in the most basic tactical-level operations.
