I need to get my photo done for my application for an RPAL. I had a look at the Canadian Passport website and the sizes aren't the same. But if you go to Shoppers, Costco or Walmart to get your photo taken, can I use a passport photo? Can it be in colour, or must it be Black & White?

Thanks...

That's what I did, got a passport photo. You may have to trim it down a tad to get the size they need though, and it was in colour.

iIRC passport photo uses special paper and it may cost more. If I need one for non passport I usually ask for regular photo paper

there is no requirement to have your photo taken by a professional. if you read the instructions you will discover you can take your own and print it out yourself. that's what i did.

I just printed a color photo off my computer. Just regular ol white paper, doesn't have to be on anything special.

Print one, and if it's not quite right you can just print another. Cheap cheap.

I got my wife to take my picture.......after at least a dozen pics where she cut the top of my head off, she finally got a full head shot. I printed it off on the puter and done.......cost me a little patience and a little ink and paper

First time, I went to shoppers drugs and told them what the photo was for...they had the correct template...the kid doing the photo knew it was different. Last renewal, did the same thing at a different shoppers but same experience. Maybe SDM trains well or could be there's a whole lotta people in Hamilton getting gun licences...

I went to Costco in Langley B.C. and showed them the page with the specs on it. They knew exactly what I needed and even cut it to size.

Just did my photo at Shoppers, they have a book with a clear template that lets them confirm that the photo is the right size. So now I just have to send my RPAL application off to get the whole ball rolling...
