Can it finally be? SKS's running low?

It probably won't make the cut.

I picked out 2 nice ones out of 9 a couple of years ago at the Leila avenue CT. The other 40 or were all war time dated and were relatively rough in comparison.

I do a reverse bullet check with a Hornady .312 projectile (no counterbore allowed). I also check the trigger out and make sure the bolt doesn't move when the hammer drops. I have checked a few dozen to get the few I have.

These are all hand select for me - 90% are NFG (in my estimation at least).

just wait next year with the tag rifle law all those beautyful SKS mosin ngant svt 40 and more there price will be up to 200$ and mabe more so buy them fast before it goes up

In Regina we have 3 stores selling guns and none of them qould have SKS in stock. I'm waiting for boxing day maybe Cabelas will bring some.

Yes our Bedford CTC had SKS and they weren't selling enough so last spring they put them on sale for $150 till they sold out and never ordered more, however they do sell a few rifles and shotguns probably around fifty different models and ammo, so small amount compared to others in our area!

You think stores make money off an SKS? #### no. The amount of time they spend with the customer and ringing the gun though the till, their profit is already eaten up. No store would ever get rich off of selling SKS unless they're the importers. That's why stores won't let you hand select because that costs them money to let you hand select when they could be helping someone purchase a much more expensive firearm.

I think the prices of the unissued Sks's will rise in the coming years. People are going to stop taking these rifles for granted when the supplies do dry up. In my mind however, there is a huge difference between an unissed Sks and the normal crappy tire Sks you guys are talking about. And then of course it's possible that sometime in the next 5-10 years there will be a new batch of unissued ones imported. There's always that batch (of surplus anything) that seemingly comes out of nowhere. Probably forgotten in some cold, dark warehouse in the Ukraine or Russia.

Arm yourselves with cheap SKSs while you can.
Ways I see it, inaccurately put in the words of the late Saw Gerrera
"A man with a pointy stick and nothing to lose can still take the day"

The supply won't go away anytime soon I think.

The Russians made millions of 'em, and so did a lot of other Eastern Bloc countries. China made millions of the damned things too.

I think the reasons the supply in Canada may be getting low are the conflict (war) in Ukraine, and the current political uncertainty in Canadian firearms laws.

The US won't allow them to be imported thanks to O'Fumble, and whether Trump will allow them in is an open question.

I think we can speculate all we want. One thing is for certain, the Russians made between 2.5 and 2.7 million SKS's while the Chinese made 15+ million. There may be many more Chinese SKS's in the future, but the Russian supply is clearly dwindling. It seems the rough-grades are what remain, with the odd gem thrown in the mix.
