Can left hand shooters safely use right hand semi-autos?

Unfortunately i am a left hand shooter and am currently looking for a semi-auto shotgun for duck hunting. I have a browning bps great for lefties but to be honest im tired of pump actions. I priced a left hand benelli m2 field at my favourite gunshop it was 1800 before tax and of course had to be ordered.

So my question is are there any lefties that shoot the less expensive right hand semi-autos? If you do have you had any problems with shells or debris ending up in your face?
 
My JC Higgins semi throws the empty directly into my face everytime.

I'm a righty, but sometimes just for a challenge when shooting clays, I'll shoot a few lefty, everytime forgetting about that little point...
 
I'm a right hander who shoots lefty (go figure) and have never had a problem with any RH semi-autos ever. The only inconvenience I have encountered is going through proper drills with an AR and hitting the forward assist.
 
Put plug in your right ear or wear muffs. A lot of sound comes out of the action shooting a RH semi LH. Some powder residue as well shooting slower burning 3" or 3 1/2" waterfowl loads.
 
The biggest issue for most lefties with a Rh semi is the safety.although the winchester SX3 and the Brownings have a reversible safety .just something to think about.
 
The only issue I've had is with an AR spitting brass onto my right arm near the elbow. Gotten a few brass burns out of that, now I just wear long sleeves. Never taken brass in the face.

Borrowed and shot a RH Benelli in a competition earlier this year, amazing piece of gear. No problems with it at all.
 
I suggest you wear eye protection... you should anyway, but it is more important when you are exposing an eye more than normal.

I had a scare related to this - sort of. I shot a 3.5" waterfowl load (Kent fasteel, if it matters) that had been exposed to too much moisture. The load went off slowly with a sulphur puff of smoke and the wad stopped just past the exhaust port. This would have been a safety issue anyways on my next shot (which I did not take), what with the wad stuck in the barrel, but with regards to being a lefty, what happened was that the shell ejected BEFORE the wet, slow-burning load was done combusting, so it bulged the side of the shell as it ejected and sprayed my face with some powder. I was not hurt, but the combination of the bulged shell and ejection of burning powder across my face gave me a bit of a scare. I was not wearing glasses. I have since become ruthless about keeping my shells dry, and switched to drylok ammo. Anyhow, just wanted to pass on that potential problem for lefties shooting RH guns. The empties have never hit me (Xtrema II), and I don't notice/find them distracting when they eject.
