Hi, Im new to Fclass and am hoping to compete someday soon. I was wondering if my 223 Improved is ok to shoot F TR or will have to compete in F Open?

Thanks.
Ryan

they may allow you to shoot it in FTR mode with a bipod BUT YOUR SCORES WIL NOT COUNT TOWARDS ANY STANDINGS OR PRIZES

depending on which gun you have why not try your hand at FTR with a good bipod, just know in advance that they may put you down at the bottom of the excel spreadsheet and then just compare your cores to see if it is worthwhile to build a competition gun,

also, if you are only shooting in BC at Kamloops 500 meters and chilly-whack 600 meters just try it out first, then decide,

.223 is for mid range and 308 if better for long range,

I shot a .223 at calgary at 700 meters and shot a 74 (14 out of 15 5's) with a X or V count of 11 out of 15 in the dead calm,

any wind and the 308 comes out as well it should,

F-class is where it is at, come join the fun (bring your 223 I need somebody to beat, just kidding)

Thanks guys! Much appreciated. If be ok with shooting and not scoring. The inly person I'm interested I'm competing against would be myself anyway. If come shoot with you Jefferson, but ontario is a little far away!

Just compete in F-Open and have fun! Most match organisers (myself included) would put you in Open, where at least your scores would count. If you're interested in shooting at Connaught this year let me know!

I think this year I would like to go back to Connaught a shoot F-Class. How do I get more info.?

You might also consider Precision Rifle. ORA & DCRA have matches. ORA throughout the season, DCRA at NSCC. There is a detailed rulebook available in the Service Conditions section at www.dcra.ca so you can see exactly what is involved.

The events of note for F-Class and TR through NCRRA/DCRA are the Victoria Day Matches, a Long Range Match the last weekend of June, the Eastern F-Class Championships in July and then Nationals in August.

There has been some discussion around hosting an NSCC Precision type match or 2 this year, although I am not aware of any formal discussions with the folks at ORA who run their Precision program. Aside from that there are practice opportunities during the week and on weekends for NCRRA members.

Send me a PM if you'd like more info.
