Can some people still purchase new PPK's?

Just curious if individuals with 12.6's are able to purchase new Walther PPK's or only the ones that are currently circulating in Canada? The reason I ask is that i'd like to eventually purchase a .380 and do the conversion to the barrel.

Is it possible to have the conversion done by a gunsmith in the states and then import it as a restricted since it would then comply?
 
New 12.6 firearms cannot be imported into Canada AFAIK; the barrel conversion to make them restricted must be done before the gun can be imported.
 
so what gorky means is that if say QUESTAR imported the gun for you from the USA and had thier USA gundealer install a barrel 106mm or bigger AND the gun is chambered for 380ACP then you would be fine....

note that NO 32cal or 25cal will be allowed to be imported because the caliber itself is named as prohibited.
 
Ok, so from the sound of it if it's converted in the states to a restricted, i'm fine. How difficult is it to import a restricted firearm from the states by yourself? Before anyone attacks me, i'm new to this and just trying to get as much info as possible. Where can I get information regarding the importation of firearms and what forms I would need?

Lots of steps to complete, must be done through licensed US exporters, just takes a lot of time and is expensive. See Questar, but I believe others also facilitate importing guns.

If you're thinking of importing one of the S&W PPK's, go to waltherforums.com.
It is a real mess. Poor reliability, massive recalls. Not worth the trouble. Find one here and have it converted by a reputable gunsmith.
