Um.. call me crazy but the bowling pins I've shot and knocked down, didn't need a f**king magnum to do so. I've knocked plenty of bowling pins and steel IPSC targets down with a .22lr pistol.
To me, .357 mag is overkill. It's like the idiots who show up with a 12 gauge to the bowling pin shoots... fack.
What I like about .357 magnum.. it's an exciting round to shoot, way more bang than a .45 ACP. Also, I love the ability to shoot .38special through a .357 magnum revolver or lever action rifle if you choose to go that route. My experience firing a Colt Python with .357mag and .38spl is one of my favourite shooting experiences of all time. It sits somewhere between my carbine tactical training course and my day spent shooting with the tactical guys at Peel Regional and making fun of their mascot.
Goodluck killing those pins!
Tim.
