can someone please explain the sights on milsurps to me??

The following describes the earlier Springfield 1903 rear sight. This explanation applies closely to your situation as well. The 1903 rear sight system is probably the ultimate in this type of rear sight. When the sight ladder lays flat, it is in the normal "battle sight" position. When raised, it is usually used for deliberate aimed fire at longer ranges. The skill comes in when to use the appropriate distance scales and appertures. Your sight might be simpler, but the same principles apply.

thank you. that explains it pretty well. I will have to go out and try this stuff now to make sure. only thing is I don't have a bench rest so It's difficult to ditermine if it's the gun or me thats off.
