I'm in the market for an air gun.... The boys red ryder just isn't cutting the mustard on the pests....

Now here's the deal.. I have lots of guns but no air guns.. I'm not looking to spend a ton of cash... Just want something that will get the job done on unwanted pests.. I certainly won't be doing any target shooting or things like that...

So here's where I'm at:

Ruger Air Hawk combo

Tech Force M12 combo

Gamo Big Cat

As I said... I'm well aware that there are much better air guns out there... But this is the range I'm in... Any comments or suggestions of the three would be appreciated..

Also... .177 or .22 ???

Thanks much

Of those your best bet might be the Ruger in .22 for pesting. The Ruger is a copy of a Diana34 which is a proven work horse. The M12 would be second but would be harder to correct any factory defects on. The Gamo would be last due to a reputation of poor quality especially the use of cheap parts and no spare parts availability.

Agree with Garmic.
.22 the preferred choice. .177 favoured by some people for birds
.177 for feathers
.22 for fur

Also, x2 Ruger/Diana over the Gamo.

You could also look at the Baikal guns. They have a PAL version break barrell in .22 which may do the job. All the ones I have tried are quite accurate. You will have to order it from a dealer but it may be worth it.
