You have a German P38, 9mm pistol from WW2, more precicely 1943.
What's the next question?

Can't do it I have more invested into it, not a Russian bring back also have the original holster and it makes me question the first response bc its dated and says 1942. Also has serial number and stamped with the eagles holding the swastika.

Sounds llike a nice Walther produced P38. As mentioned 1943 is the date of manufacture. Pictures are required (pistol and holster) to determine value. Value ranges from $100 - $800(ish) + $10-$200 for the holster. Lots of gaps in the value :p need pictures.

That pistol/holster combo should bring around $700+-. IMHO

One thing that really surprises me, is the price being asked by vendors for the RC capture P38s.

They are asking $675 for mismatched/refinished/sometimes well worn bores pieces.

Actual vet bring backs, even in VG or better condition, without holsters, have a tough time bringing $500.

What kept their prices down, were the post war P1s that flooded the markets a few years back.

Most of the non RC WWII dated P38 pistols are vet bring backs and should command premium pricing. They almost all seen action or at least been in service at one time or another.

Look at what's happened to the price of actual German produced and issued K98s.

Somehow, the lowly p38 has become the bastard, red haired stepchild.

I have wondered why the RC P.38s are priced the way they are as well. Most RC P.38s are original matching, but for the asking price you should be able to get an original piece that has not been re blued/dipped and refrubished. The difference between RC Kar98s and matching Kar98s is huge, an entirely different world of collecting (and monetary value!)

That is justa beautiful rig you have there. I have wondered why value of the P38 has not really increased, compared to other ww2 era firearms (especially German). Not complaining about the prices, that's for sure, I'm buying any decent example i can find.

What you have is a nice WWII P38 Rig. To be more specific:

AC 43 1st Variation P38 (if I get it properly your pistol is a ``b`` block) production of 80 000 pistols. Your pistol was made in February 1943 & has the early frame (without trigger reinforcement) and early extractor cut (double cut) AC 43 P38s are one of the most common wartime P38s as total production was 150 000 (1st, 2nd & 3rd Variations combined) Grips look correct (brownish-red), should have numbers inside bottom. Value is good & depends on % bluing, bore condition & frontstrap. Better pics of your pistol are needed for an accurate pricing... Correct un-numbered mag would have a single upside down E359 proof upper spine.

Your holster is a very nice piece. GCX (?) maker with an instector Waffenampt stamp (WaA???) & 1942 date. I dont have my code books close by to give you more info about this maker. Looks in fine condition w/ sharp markings, very strong original stitching (a big +), retained original shape without mush pistol ``imprint``, supple leather w/ no cracking/flaking. I'd say in the upper range price wise...

These original Rigs are slowly but surely climbing value wise even if they are still often seen. Forget the ``RC`` ones, they are really the poor man's P38 !! Strong interest in original Rigs & it will only get better.

Hoping this little bit of info helps, PM me for more....Congrats on this fine bring back P38 Rig !!!
