I used a 170 grain Hornady Interlock out of a 30-30 to kill my last bull moose. So, if your 30-06 won't do it with a standard 165, you'd best get down to the range and learn to shoot.
Can the 30-06 show enough might to drop moose.

3006 is a fine caliber for moose. For what it's worth I would try several different bullet weights in your rifle. I always use 180's in my Winchester because that's what it shoots best with. I think the shot placement is more important than if it is a 165, 180 or 220 grain bullet.
Your Parker Hale is a fine rifle and it may or may not show a preference for a certain bullet weight. Everything being equal use a heavier bullet for moose.

i know 2 guys that shot more moose then most people combined on this site. all with the 06 so you have nothing to worry about. they did it with cheap remington core locks and soft points. if you reload toss partitions through it. i would recommend another but after using the partitions i stopped there. they are a good bullet. heard lots of good about the latest barnes tsx too.
They hit with about 2000 ft lbs at 300 yards if launced at 2700FPS

Actually the 223 is another moose slayer. But only in the far north.
NO S^%T. I didnt believe it either but after the second day of looking for him I gave up! And there was a significant amount of Bone and hair were he was hit.

The 30-06 and Gatehouse's .375 Rugers are mere varmint guns ok, you need the allmighty undisputed, king of the African plains .375 H&H. Besides, the .375 Ruger doesn't even exist, it's just a figment of the imagination

For moose - you're going to want something like this (as a bare minimum).
It is a great hunting rifle! I often use it on deer and moose , using the 575 grains Nosler accubond for deer, and the 675gr Partition for moose, to get more penetration (you never know when a 3000lbs moose is going to charge you!)
Lighter bullets are for varmint hunting only!

Use a good 180 gr premium bullet that shoots well out of your rifle.
I have hunted moose for quiet a while and I have never ever fired a shot more than 150 yards at a moose. The 30-06 will do it's job if you do yours
try 180grs TSX or the old faithful Nosler Partion.
