I'm a bit hesitant about asking another question about the nea102 as my last one brought forth the retard crew..but I again want to make sure I'm buying the right mags for this platform as I'm not familiar with the different type ar10 mags..so that being said can I use the LR/SR also called LR308/SR25 mags in the nea102? I don't want pmags and I'm looking for 5/20 steel mags that I can use with confidence in this firearm...and don't comment just use xcrm mags

Noone will know for sure except for NEA. They hold their value, so I would just buy some, see if they work, and report your findings here :p

You are asking a specific question that has been asked a dozen times already fully well knowing no-one has had the nea102 in their hands to confirm....and you're complaining about retards?!?

NEA 102 was designed to LR308/SR25 pattern mags, there are plenty of pictures of the Lancer L7AWM mags being used on the NEA FB page.

Aren't those all actually pictures of the NEA-25 which is not the same as the NEA-102? I haven't looked because I don't care to read any info put on Facebook, if the manufacturer has any actual information or specifications to post they should be professional and put them on their website first then the womens gossip channel.
What SFRC has on their site says standard AR-10 which honestly to me would make me think the Armalite pattern mags but I am more under the impression and also hoping they are DPMS/SR-25 pattern.

And to the OP, the reason the retards came out is because it was such an obvious answer that the question shouldn't have been asked. Let me make it as simple as possible.
Because no matter how hard they tried the RCMP firearms laboratory couldn't find any simple way to make it shoot full auto and because it doesn't fall under any of the criteria that would make it restricted or prohibited.

All the information is available if you care to look, the RCMP website has everything printed regarding the laws governing firearms, their manufacture, classification, sales, storage, transport, etc.

All the photos on the FB page were tagged #NEA102, AR10a pattern mg or the original AR10 waffle mag is the standard DPMS/SR25/PMAG, AR10b is the modifield M14 pattern mag.

5 posts by WARMACHIN.

Almost all 5 responded with him getting trashed on.

New guy walks into bar, overhears some stuff at the table. Tires to get in late on the conversation. Trying to learn new things. Maybe his google foo and search skills aren't up to par.
How does CGN treat the new guy? TRASH HIM! CGN style!

Guys like Ottawa trying to acquaint people with the sport, that know nothing about it. Gets trashed in most of his other posts.

WARMACHIN - spend some time bouncing around and just reading threads until your eyes hurt. There is lots of good info, here. And it is true that you are asking an already asked and answered question. Do some reading, dude; then get on with the questions with whats unclear after that. Otherwise, the friendly regulars here at CGN are gonna make you feel like an unwelcome POS. That seems to be the CGN way. So sit back, relax, read.

And if WARMACHIN is a KISS reference, then rock on dude! If you are new to the sport, don't let the trashing steer you away. Just lurk, read, learn.

Thanks, strange there is so little information from NEA.
I'm not exactly impressed with a company that although Canadian has absolutely no information on their own web page regarding a non restricted rifle they produce that has finally been approved non restricted. Doesn't seem very professional.

(I think you have to be logged into Facebook or log in for the link to work, but otherwise you can scroll down on Gun Owner's of Canada's page to find the post which was made on the 19th.)

This post pretty much answers the question, it says some of the mag types it takes (Magpul, steel mags, etc...) so it should take whatever the regular type of AR-10 steel mags there are I would think, (I'm not familiar with the different types either) as well as XCR-M mags. And I believe I've seen a few comment replies on Facebook by NEA confirming mags being standard AR-10.

Absolutely correct! Hbean provides a good simple mag reference!

Do not buy " AR10 " mags for your NEA 102. Unless you want to sell them to me for half price after finding out they are the wrong pattern!!!

A bit of history here. Armalite and KAC were in fairly heated competition back in the day. There were even rumours that the AR10 SASS won the M110 competition but Armalite couldn't meet the facility security requirements. Who knows if this is true or not. Armalite literature at the time also listed points on how their design was superior to KAC etc. KAC had Eugene Stoner working for them and built off that. Fast forward to today and KAC thanks to their military contracts and continued inovation are considered one of the top AR10/AR308 rifles. Since Armalite went to modified M14 mags in the AR10b due to the Clinton assault rifle ban which included regular capacity mags... Well the pattern gained the term SR25 mags. DPMS produced the largest amount of AR308 rifles so the mags were also known as DPMS pattern. The volume of DPMS rifles with the military credibility of KAC led to magpul making the pmag for this pattern of mag. With the pmag and the assault rifle ban having ended, well the M14 based mag became the Beta max or HD DVD. In reality however the SR25/DPMS pattern is really the AR10a or waffle mag pattern. This was the original pattern!

Keep in mind none of us has a NEA102 yet. This is based on what little info has been provided, the photos of the NEA102 etc. I personally think it's a done deal that they take SR25/DPMS aka original waffle design AR10a mags but this is really an educated guess. I have mags already for both patterns so I'm covered.

When I eventually get a NEA102, I'll test it with the KAC (SR25), pmag, DPMS and XCR-M pistol mags. On a side note, DPMS brand mags suck. I would avoid buying them.

It's going to be trial and error I believe, just like the modern Hunter doesn't like gen 3 pmags but gen 2's work, no one will know for sure until some actual field testing can be done. I hope no one is buying a ton of mags before they function test them in this platform. Probably be better off to grab a few different flavors and see which one work best.

Good advice.

I have more faith in the NEA design. It's based off an Armalite not a DPMS product. There is too much DPMS parts and reverse DPMS engineering in the MH. There is a reason I stated don't buy DPMS mags. The tolerances are all over the place. I've even had one that wouldn't fit the DPMS gun it came with! Also this isn't NEA's first rodeo with AR based 308 rifles. The NEA25 has been sold elsewhere for a few years now. Last but not least, the NEA102 is a forged lower/upper. The cost to start forging is very high. I would be shocked if they would put that much capital into forging without insuring they have the right geometry and can use current pmags.

That being said, Uisge's suggestion is very prudent. It's good advice. Especially since we can only operate on educated speculation at this point.

why would you buy those mags when 10 rpunds xcr mags would work?
I dont like our magazine limit regs but 10 is a whole lot better than 5

I cant see why a Canadian manufacturer would make a 308 AR that wouldn't take the same mags as the XCR-M. 10 rounds is an awfully good selling point. I sold a Vz 58 because the mags were a pain in the *ss. I can't be the only one.

Said manufacturer is making a pistol caliber carbine that uses uzi mags so I can see why some are reluctant to think they'd use the obvious choice.

For Pmags: Looks like a regular capacity, looks "cool", fairly easy to get, not that expensive, and work well in rifles they are designed for. Also there are no concerns regarding the constantly changing interpretations regarding mag limits ie the BS "dual use" term that has been recently used.

That being said these other mags have come with firearms I have bought. I have only bought the XCR-M mags for my AR10/AR308 rifles. So yes I do agree with you. Although I haven't been in a hurry to get rid of my other mags.

NEA said that the NEA102 will take:

Magpul mags
XCR-M Pistol mags
Steel mags (not sure what is meant here...)
IMI Defence G2 308 mags

I guess we will see once folks have them in their hands!

Cheers
Jay
