Can the Ruger mini 30 shoot surplus ammo?

From what I've been reading, it seems like the jury is still out on if it is ok to shoot surplus eastern block 7.63x39 in the Ruger mini 30.

Does anyone have any info on this?
 
It's OK to shoot surplus ammo but there are reports that the OEM firing pin spring can be weak against hard primers. People usually buy stiffer aftermarket springs and the problem goes away. Maybe someone who has done so can let you know what works.
 
Early Mini-30's have .309" barrels. Surplus 7.62 x 39 uses a .311" bullet. So it depends on what you have. Ruger wised up and started making the barrels the correct diameter due to the plethora of surplus ammo. Suspect they might have been sued over it.

The early barrels had a long leade specifically to allow for .311 dia bullets to be swaged down.
Milsurp is all I have ever fired in my older mini-30.
 
So if I get a new mini 30, I should be fine with surplus then?

Also, where is a good forum for mini 30's? I searched on here and didn't seem to find any threads. Am I missing them?
