Can we hunt with sem-auto rifles in Quebec?

There is a perception - quite wrongly - that there is no place for semi-automatic firearms in hunting. Quebecers and members of the Liberal Party (and lately the NDP) seem to have this notion that if a firearm loads itself, it must be more dangerous than a case of dynamite and a pack of lighted sparklers. Shooting more than one shot after another is somehow extrordinarily unsafe and it must be illegal. This is a slippery slope of bad logic that is being promoted by our opponents. If anyone owns self-loading firearms, then they have no reason or excuse NOT to use them whereever legal and responsible.

Let me ask this question, if semi-automatics are bad in the woods, why do so many Quebecers and Ontarians have Remington 742's and Browning Automatic Rifles as their first choice moose, deer or bear rifles?

I read that the anti gun types have been trying to ban a variety of guns in a variety of countries and over time it has changed.

I knew they went after handguns and are going after all semis and assault rifles more than ever, but I didnt know this:

When JFK was shot there was a big push to ban bolt action rifles. They were apparently the highest-powered sniper rifles out there.

I forget the source.

yes but they're useless... you just need one round!

I do hunt with a single shot rifle, but that does not mean I could not see a situation where someone with an repeter or autoloading would be more efficient than me...

Trying to impose you're own view on others is the corner stone of all tyrannies

Yes, welcome to the People's Republic Of Scruffee, I know impose you whinners to hunt with single shots... What I'm saying is anytime I'm out deer hunting there's always one retard who empty a whole mag on a deer in .0003 sec... If you can't shoot but love hunting, well maybe you should improve your shooting skills to get adequate kills.

I still don't see how I was imposing btw...

I personnally own all kinds of rifles and hunted with most of them. I started using a ruger no1 in 7mm mauser for deer and just love it. The problem doesn't lie with the rifle used but the user. I've seen too many people using a semi doing the old spray and pray. I personnally banned idiots from my land who didn't abide by my rules and tried to shoot deer in situations where they didn't have a clear shot.

In hunting there is only one rule. know what you're shooting at. and in shooting my only rule is practice til you are sure to hit what you shoot at

Now use what you want but NEVER WOUND AN ANIMAL. This is the worst thing about it. That's what antis use against us.
