There is a perception - quite wrongly - that there is no place for semi-automatic firearms in hunting. Quebecers and members of the Liberal Party (and lately the NDP) seem to have this notion that if a firearm loads itself, it must be more dangerous than a case of dynamite and a pack of lighted sparklers. Shooting more than one shot after another is somehow extrordinarily unsafe and it must be illegal. This is a slippery slope of bad logic that is being promoted by our opponents. If anyone owns self-loading firearms, then they have no reason or excuse NOT to use them whereever legal and responsible.
Let me ask this question, if semi-automatics are bad in the woods, why do so many Quebecers and Ontarians have Remington 742's and Browning Automatic Rifles as their first choice moose, deer or bear rifles?
