Can Webley WG take Fiocchi

I've been looking for information on the WG as well and am personally planning to only use my own reloads.

I believe Fiocchi ammo is advertised as 800+ fps which seems a bit hot but I've seen people report and also videos that show they shoot closer to 600+ in 4-6 inch barrels.

On the topic, I also wonder if anyone here has knowledge on whether the WGs were built with better steel or are more robust than service Mk Is built around the same time.

My Webley WG has BNP stamps on barrel, chamber and frame and 6 tons on barbell. BNP Means Birmingham Nitro proof. Could this indicate it is tested and approved for smokeless powder.

This usually means it was sold for export in the early 20th century. Once cordite became widespread everything got those proofs.

It might work a long time but I would not be putting that ammunition through a WG for any length of time if it were mine. I have seen much lighter loads gradually stretch and break the latch on a Mk VI. If you are in Saskatchewan I have old stock British and Colt ammunition and could part with some.

I can’t speak to every batch of fiocchi but the stuff I had was under 600fps out of my No5 with a just a hair under 6in barrel. Found my notes, for 6 shots average was 520fps with a max of 546fps and a min of 495fps. Can’t say that every batch will be exactly the same but for the most part fiocchi under loads (compared to original military ammo, which for the most part I recommend being under anyway) their antique ammo line because they don’t want someone to sue them over a 100+ year revolver.

Used it in my Belgian made British Bulldog, Webley RIC, and Webley MP. Was OK but I preferred my handloads. Note the Fiocchi brass is small primer and when reloaded does not do as well as large primer brass from Hornady or Starline.

Cheers
