Can You Cut 2 Barrels From 1 Blank?

I'm a machinist and I send some of my projects to Casey at Tactical Ordnance. I have visited him, and believe me, he has a professionally equipped shop. Casey is capable and not just competant, he's talented. On top of it all, he's timely.

Gunsmiths who use cheap hobby-grade machines and discount tooling should be avoided for a manufacturing job like this, IMPO. Sometimes, you can go wrong...

From a 24" blank, you ought to be able to get a 14.5" barrel and a 10.3" barrel, if you are careful with sawing and facing/crowning.

THanks for the heads up. This is a good list of smiths. Thanks for the recommendations. I am quite set on the 16 and 7.5 lengths. I like the shorty and the more medium length. I have quad rail gas blocks for these builds. I will add a picture. Anyone use these? are they reliable and effective?

It's a YHM

Ive had a few guns worked on by Casey to. Hes a polite friendly guy who follows through on time. This is important as there are other talented gunsmiths out there, however some guy might tell you it will take a week to fix and 6 months later he hasnt even started it yet.

Not familiar with the unit you posted.
Brownells sells one that has a single fixed rail on top for a front sight, and provisions for up to three more rails to be added on the sides and bottom. Versatile.

I'm going to be looking into this myself now. I think it will be more cost effective and I'll get what I want by having Jeff cut a blank and make me two barrels.
