I bought this because the one without the threaded barrel wasnt available :

http://frontierfirearms.ca/index.php/firearms/handguns/sig/sig-mosquito-sport-22-lr-threaded-barrel.html

It has the protruding threaded barrel. I think it looks weird.... Can I just have a gunsmith cut the protruding end?

It has a 4.96 barrel, so I think I could have the barrel cut flush and still be legal (greater than 4.15 inches).

Your point of view?

A gunsmith could cut it but not flush; 5-6mm of the barrel will be visible from the outside to make it legal length wise...

This will render the "Sport" compensator useless...

functional?
sport compensator?
frame breaks?

wtf?

-cut it if you wish, but keep it above the legal requirement of restricted.

-the threading allows the attachment of a fake suppressor if you want, cutting may actually have to be done in the middle of the thread for legal requirements, which would no longer make it "functional"

-there is a 2nd mosquito model that has a "sport compensator" (cannot be attached to threaded barrel as far as I know
www.sigsauer.com/CatalogProductDetails/mosquito-sport.aspx

-the frame is plastic (polymer), COULD potentially crack, but so can any metal frame, after time

I have the sport model, but would rather have the threaded barrel

You don't think he's serious do you?

Can't be..... after all you started a thread about modifying a mosquito...

I know he is joking. He can do all the jokes he wants he is free to do so.

I said I dont do that kind of jokes, and I don't approve them. That's all.

What's the issue with legally modifying a mosquito for esthetic reasons? You are allowed a barrel no shorter than 105mm and this barrel exceeds it by a great deal. I've never talked about any illegal modification here.

Ok, to get back to the original topic, I'll wait until I get it to see it and evaluate how much I could cut or not, and what it would look like, and then I'll decide.

Thanks for the replies.
