Good day.

I am just wondering if anyone can tell me if you can hunt with two rifles in BC.

I am planning to carrry a shottie for grouse and my 308 on my back for deer, is there problems with this? I know for migratory birds 2 loaded guns are a no no.

Thanks for the help.

Todd I've gone through countless numbers of boxes of kleenex looking at your avatars. Keep them coming!

No problem with it legaly as far as I know.

From a practicle viewpoint however you will do much better to either hunt birds or big game. Trying to mix the two seldom works as blasting off a shotgun every once in a while is not really conductive to good deer hunting while having a rifle slung across you back can screw up your wingshooting. ;) LoL

If you want to hunt deer and take the odd grouse while doing so you are much better off to carry a slingshot. Or if you are mainly looking for grouse just carry a few slugs in case you run into a deaf deer.

I carry a small 410 for upland while big game hunting.
loaded with slugs, the little fella' can start a whole new bear defence thread by itself. Named it "the Anoyer". my wife's suggestion.

the perspective of screing off the big game wile shooting at the ocasional grouse got me thinking. So I called the MNR and they confirmed. Air pistols are perfectly legal.

but the slingshot idea worths a second look. For one, shoots bigger balls.
second, might be a good idea for a bear defece thinghy. Better than the flare, anyway.

Eltorro, are you in BC? So a CO said it is legal to shoot grouse with an air pistol? If that's the case then it opens alot of doors.

I've heard the same thing, actually it was an article I read in a Canadian hunting mag mid-late 80's.The author was hunting in Ontario and would use a Crosman 38T .22 cal Co2 pistol to dispatch grouse form his blind,he'd get his deer too

Huntsman :)

No handguns allowed for hunting in BC.Barrel must be over 14 inches and not be designed to be fired with one hand.Thats why i bought my crossman backpacker pumpup 22 but have to use the rear stock and not the handgrips to be legal.

This is ridiculous. You can't use an air pistol to hunt grouse but a slingshot is OK?

What a mess this country is in. :(

I was talking to a Filipino buddy thus evening who lives outside of Manila.

He and his brothers shoot their 9mm's in their backyard!

Yep.. quite fascinating the philipines gun culture... its quite similar to the US. Everyone has/love guns. You can conceal and carry there.
Bank guards are Armed to the teeth. and Police love having a full auto in their trunk.
