Can you ID this round.

.30-06 class and that's about all that can be said without further info.

Actually, at that distance, with a known distance, any round in that class (let alone a .338 or a .300 magnum) will be adequate. More important will be the rifle and the man behind it.

The scale sort of sucks, but the bullet looks a little bigger than the 30mag and the case is a little shorter so my guess is 8X57.

Voting towards the 270, possibly 280. Both case lengths (270-280-30-06) are the same length, just bullet size is different. However, knowing personally the individual as I do, I'd think he'd go for something common, easy to find, and versitile. Namely, 30-06. I do know its been using for cariboo hunting.
 
Definitely .30-06 over .270/.280. Look at the bullet diameter, it is the same as the .300 and .308.

Not 8x57 because the ratios of the case look wrong for that, also its relative length to the .308 and .300
