Recently acquired some old firearms. This one though, we don't know what is. The previous owner had thought it was a dutch service revolver and registered it as such, but nobody really seems to have any solid information on it, its history or what caliber it is. Anyone recognize it?

You can see in this one, a small Crown above a W in front of the cylinder.

You may notice a small W on the bottom of the trigger guard.

It has all matching numbers, on the inside of the wood handgrips, the frame etc, but there is no make listed or much for any identifying marks we can find. Any help you can give would be appreciated.

Model 1891 Dutch East Indies revolver, cal 10mm Soerjbaya.
Apply to have it derregisterred as an antiQue.

Ok, so one guy says 1891, one guy says 1894 (any way to know for sure?). General consensus seems to be that its Dutch. I don't imagine it has any real historical significance being just a plain army revolver. Any idea what its value might be? Was my $50 a good or bad deal? Thanks again!

Not the easiest ammunition to make, but it can be done.
A batch of these came in from Indonesia years ago. Yours is in better shape than most were.
They can be deregistered as antique.
Yours is missing the cylinder pin retaining screw. Likely have to make a repacement, would assume the threads are metric.

Head over to the antique forum and read up on antiques, then call the CFC and tell them to take it out of the registry, because it isn't a gun :D

All the statements in Wally's post are very true.

If the lady at the CFC tells you that it's impossible to deregister antiques, suggest to her that she goes back working at Walmart.

Dutch 1891 East Indies Revolver

I was thinking of getting one of these a little while ago and did some research. Not all of them qualify as antiques. One batch was made in 1909 and another in 1921. From what I read the Crown W Inspection Mark means this one is from the 1921 Vicker's production. Be prepared for some disappointment if you apply to have it de-registered.
