I have a Norinco SKS and am mounting a NC star gas tube on it, here is my question.

Can you remove the front of the gas tube peice, not sure what it's called maybe front gas block, you know the thing with the sling loop on it? I knocked the pin out but don't want to get to aggresive without being educated.

Second, if i can't remove that any idea's how to remove the gas tube lock half round peice? Again not sure what it's called but you know what i mean.

The reason you ask... I think if i can remove the peice on the back, or even slightly turn the front one, i can have one TIGHT gas tube mount.

Thanks, Ryan.

DANGER WILL ROBINSON DANGER

Your about to screw your gun up

Moving the gas black will mis align your gas hole. Plusyou wont be able to put the gas block pin in with out drilling a new hole.

DONT screw with things you know nothing about "you might damage your gun or your self"

no no, i just want to move it out a hair, install my new gas tube, slide it back and put the pin back in the same hole.

The gas tube is about 1/64th of an inch to long. If i file it, it will fit loose as the mating surface under the "lock" is further toward the butt end of the rifle than the lock itself.

even if there was a way to remove the lock and then reinstall not to bubba, it would work, just if i file it, it will be loose. The pin on the lock is a one shot deal, if i remove it, theres no putting it back in without making one.

no thanks, my son bought a red dot for this one and i'm trying to prove a point with the gas tube mounts. I will find a way.... just not right now!

Next sks gets a side mount!

All gas tube mounts are Epic fails "trust me on that one" There scout mounts that replace you rear sight and they will hold a zero.

hmmm... i'll have to try it first before i beleive that. I got it on there now without filing. Trust me if it was a nice SKS i would not have persuaded it like I did. No damage and VERY tight. Unless it moves alot when she heats up i think it will work fine.... but i've been wrong before.

Done, we'll see if i'm out 30 bucks when it heats up.

Ryan500- Aprox. how high is the center of the red dot sight from the rear sight blade. It looks like that with the stock unfolded your head might be a bit high in the air to shoot? looks good though.. I have the exact same stock, but i need the folder plug for it.

yep it's high, i would say from normal line of sight it's 2.5" up. Going to need a cheekrest for sure if it stays tight. Nice mount, you can use the irons if it f's up.
