i have a singel shot N.E.F. slug gun
and was wondering if anyone could tell for sure
what a rifeld slug or shot would do?
I guy last week in my local gun shop said if i shot "SHOT" out of it, there would be a hole in the center of my pattern because it rifeling would put a twist on in and make the shot spin.
Does anyone here know ?
And what difference will rifled slugs be over sabot?

The shot would spread and give you a really bad pattern. The standard rifled slugs probably would not increase in accuracy with the rifled barrel. I have not shot any rifled slugs out of fully rifled barrels but I have heard that due to the high speed of the slugs there tends to be a lot of leading of the bore, I assume if you clean it after shooting and stay on top of it you should be ok but if anyone has tried it I would also like to know.

I could be wrong on this but I believe a rifled barrel on a shotgun performs best with SABOT SLUGS and rifled slugs perform better in unrifled barrels. I have a 20 in rifle sighted unrifled barrel and I am very happy with the accuracy, the sights definitely make a difference.

There are slugs out there that can be shot out of both.

Best bet is to buy a box of every slug type and see which shoots best out of YOUR gun.

I have shot buck shot out of a rifled choke, but the deer was only 20 feet away.

ok thanks alot i dont think i will shoot anything but sabots
i was just wondering what would happen
thanks

I have shot a few different slugs from a rifled bbl, and the plain old forster slugs lead up the bbl something terrible. It takes a lot of cleaning when you are done. It's best to leave them to a smooth bore. Shot shells out of a rifled barrel are a real no no I got a 30 foot pattern at 30 yds. With all the sabot slugs available you are best to stay with them.
