Does anyone know if you can do this? I saw some had POI shifts when they did this, but I am wondering if you re-zeroed after removing the shroud if you would have any issues. Any risk of damaging the barrel or gun?

On my gen 1 I can't see how it would make any difference. AFAIK the shroud is there for looks only. I don't even think it contacts the barrel.

That's what I was thinking. It does hold onto the barrel by securing the front what looks to be an o-ring and secures with a set screw on the barrel near the receiver. It does not however attach to the receiver.

Shroud (Gen 2 experience) is literally held on by a set screw.
Yes it can be removed and shot; "feels" quite a bit lighter with it off as well. However, I put it back on as there are no threads for a FH (the shroud kind of protects the crown/barrel.

Thanks for the heads up - I removed it and it is much lighter. Good point about the crown protection. I am trying to find out if I can source one of the tube shrouds for the 9mm gen 2. They seem lighter and don't look as bulky.
