Canada Ammo Griz 870 Range report

So I got my Grizzly 870 from Canada Ammo last week. Finally today I brought it to the range to see how good it is.

I set up my Griz with a cheap Bass pro red dot scope mounted on top of B-square 870 saddle. Many people have already seen its picture in another thread.

This gun draws lots of attention in the range, many shooters come to check out this "Black Shotgun". :cool:

The ammo I used is the Winchester rifled slug - yes the most inexpensive slug I can find.

I started with 25 yards - the self-defence distance. After 8 rounds, I walked the impact point to the bull's eye. Here is my 5 shots group:

Very nice to see touching holes with smooth bore slug!:)

Then I shot another group, all the same, touching holes...Then I put up targets on 50 yards.

After lots of noise and smoke, here is the result:

Not bad, right?

Of course I almost run out of ammo before I realize it. I found a unused target on the 50 yard line, somebody left it there. I decide to dump all 4 rounds left onto it. And I can't believe what the Griz 870 did:

Wow!....This gun has not problem with deer size target to 75 yards, and bear size? maybe 100 yard...

I am very very happy with Grizzly 870. Thanks to CanAm!
 
WOW!!! Excellent range report! I am surprised to see such great groups! It is nice to see that the Grizzly is getting great reviews. Now I'm even more excited for my Grizz to show up!!!

Well, my Grizz was the center of attraction today as well!

I started on 8 1/2 X 11" targets at 15yds. with #6 shot 2 3/4" shells. Sprayed pretty good pattern.

Then tried 3" 00 Buckshot, the fireball was goreous and the recoil travelled up to my elbow. I would have crapped my pants if this had been an 8.5" barrel. It was the nastiest load I have ever fired.

I then set up a target at 5yds. and went back to #6 shot. No fireball, very respectable recoil and as is expected with a cylinder choke, pattern is pretty wide. I loaded up 4+1 and blasted rapid fire and vaporized the wooded target holder.

The Grizzly is definately NOT a skeet or trap gun, but for doing what it was designed for (shooting ZOMBIES), it works like a charm. Action is solid, not one jam out of 30 rounds. Cycles very smoothly.

Once I get her cleaned up, I will probably buy a box of #4 shot for zombie control as the pattern is a wee bit wide, I want to ensure that the zombies will suffer from a wider diameter wound channel. I would advise against any modification for screw in chokes as this would run around $150 and you would lose the advantage of having paid $289 for zombie control firearm. A wide pattern hit at close range will discourage even the stupidest of zombies and convince it to return from whence it came.

All in all, well worth the $289, you can't go wrong.
 
Boy, all this info on the grizz is making me wound up. I was excited enough to be able to get one ordered, but no that i'm waiting with baited breath, it can't get here fast enough. Very impressive groups. . Wow who would have thought. Please hurry can am.....
