Canada Ammo's 8mm Russian Capture Surplus?

I haven't shot mine yet. But it is strange, german brass ammo was for GPMGs. Higher quality than rifle ammo, which was steel cased.

Was it actually higher quality, or just different? I could see steel cases having extraction issues in a machine gun at any rate... 4moa sounds plenty good enough for a bullet hose in WW2...

I think from what I remember it is remanufactured surplus... ammo broken down, brass head stamp ground off and new primer applied and reloaded with components that were pulled apart. The etching on the side of the brass was to conform to the proposed UN marking scheme which for a while seemed like it would be implemented by the Rocket Scientists of Liberalism.

Headstamp ground off? wouldn't that create a dangerous headspace issue?

they sure look like something was ground off the base of the casing if you ask me, maybe not but they are not perfectly smooth where headstamps usually present.

3Case marked Portuguese on side. 414.3 grains total weight. Normal average weight for M/937 Ball is about 415 grains +/- so it might be Portuguese.

Impressive tumbler, however it will take a lot of media, soap and electricity to remove head stamp from 1930's production surplus ammo :p

It really doesn't matter whether it's new, old, or somewhere in between.

The pics you posted of the primers tell me all I need to know about this ammo.

I'm going to state this again.
TechKrim makes new 8mm mauser ammo to spec of German round or at least they try. In Russia sale of real Millitary Surplus Ammo is prohibited to civilians.
In order to appeal to sporting shooters and millitary firearms enthusiasts, this company produced similar "like surplus" ammo for Russian internal market. May be due to translation or to give more appeal to this brand some marketing story came out that its made from Real German ammo components. I looked at their site, read their certificates on this 8 mm, not a single word states anything about surplus components use. All it states, brass case, berdan primer and bimetal jacket with led core fmj bullet construction. To put icing on the cake it states on boxes ''hunting cartridges''. I guess they can hunt with FMJ bullets in Russia.
So our CanadaAmmo, brings this brand of ammo to Canada and uses the same Marketing ploy as TechKrim in Russia, that its surplus. Its really newly made ammo with new manufactured components.

I guess if you say something with enough confidence, it must make it true. Try refuting or explaining why my claims are incorrect with a real argument backed up by logic and evidence.
I'll list some again:
-faint traces of green primer sealant on some casings (German ball ammo used green sealant around primer)
-old stake marks from previous primer
-identical powder both in charge weight and appearance to the one used by Germany in their ww2 ball ammo
-projectiles are of identical shape, weight and materials to the German 197.5 grain 7.9 bullet

What happened to all the ammo the Soviets took with them after the war? One would think they wouldn't take all those guns that use 8x57 and no ammo for them.

I would assume the rebuild of this ammo is a bit of a loop hole so they can claim it as new and not surpluss. Also this is no longer a common military caliber.

But hey, everyone is entitled to their opinion, even if they are mistaken.

I was born at night, but not last night.
Your pictures don't prove anything. Fired case doesn't have same primers as the ones on my bench. You comparing 3 cartridges. Ok you have real surplus with newly techkrim round. So what?
I want to see technical data on middle round, documentation? Assembly process? Lets see it. Even in Russian you are welcome to find it.
Otherwise stop spreading this nonsense about surplus components. NRCAN won't even approve it if it was something that is not newly manufactured.

Middle round and fired case that came from a box of this stuff that Canada Ammo has been selling. Might look different than what you have due to lighting.
I don't know how it is as put together, but can assume, they pulled the bullets, salvaged the powder, removed primers, tumbled cases and bullets, seated new primers, charged cases, seated and crimped bullets, and put them through a machine that etched the markings on the side.

Now it's too bad you could not answer any of my claims in my previous post, before the pictures, post #30.

As for the spreading of nonsense, I was thinking the same thing.

I could make a video where I pull apart one of the german ww2 rounds and one of these techcrim rounds, and do a comparison, but I don't have time for that now.

Anyways, I mean no disrespect, nor is my intention to antagonize. We've probably beaten this horse pretty good.

So by your logic, this Techcrim company re manufactures the same way x25 ammo as they do with 8 mm?
Or you going to assume this as well?
