There are all kinds of myths about eating wild game, in Canada I find most of them are about how nasty it is, stuff based on food phobias about unfamiliar items. One time I gave a boss of mine a brace of very hard come by local ruffed grouse for him and his wife, mostly as a demonstration of how tasty they are, like the ultimate free range chicken. I gave him some pretty detailed instructions about how to cook them too, but he went home and called up someone who'd eaten heavily spruce flavoured arctic ptarmigan one time and of course listened to THAT guy so he took the beautiful white meat birds I gave him and soaked then in salt brine with vinegar and other nasty stuff, in other words he destroyed them before eating. He then complained to me about how they tasted like nothing. Never handed out game I killed to anyone ever again.
