Canada in the Rough-what happened?

you need to be able to do that to get enough shows to produce a TV program. If all they did was film in their home province

I never really thought about that.:( I think the "production" of the show is great. Good cameramen and good locations but as other's have stated the show needs a more "savvy" hunter.

After a month of in depth study (got wild TV VIA telus TV last month), and CITR is in the top 10% of stuff out there. I like the Jim Shokey stuff as well. Generally I like Hunting Canada and Beyond but last night elk hunting episode was just too painful it looked like the trailer park boys go hunting, the shooting was so bad you would think they were drinking good thing the elk just stood there and let them pound away. Hopfully that was an isolated episode becuase I did like the other stuff of thiers, the production quality is one step above home movies, but it is better than the super slick stuff from Pertersons. The Primos stuff is really good too.

If I ever see the guy from the dime store fisherman I might just pin his mouth shut with fishing hooks , Big rusty with huge barbs no barbless for him. :)

I AGREE
Shocey's shows are very well produced. He seems down to earth, and comes off as a regular fella.Only thing that drives me nuts is he talks so friggin slow.I guess i can live with it though as his professionalism makes up for it.

Anything and everything could be further improved upon.......Hunting shows in Canada included :)

Despite the various lapses, I still feel those are good (Canadian produced) attempts to broadcast on screen what we all (here at CGN) love to do.....well, most of us, there being solely target shooters among us as well :) Wish we had more to view like the folks Stateside.

PVR Baby!!!

There's always things we don't like. I'm not a fan of the big private hunting estate stuff, but it's still hunting on TV and there's not much of that around.

I think the show is top notch and ya he could edit the poor shots and stuff ll you guys whine about but you know what that is real Canadian hunting. I challenge any of you to go out and produce as quality a show and be perfect 100% of the time I challenge you that you have scewed up once or twice he just happens to hunt twice as much as most of us. I am so sick of all these judgmental fools who call them selves hunters. If you have nothing good or constructive to say shut the hell up. Want to spout off about something rant about anti's or our B@##hit Gun laws or something useful. Don't be always putting down one of the good guys. He does a ton for Hunting in Canada. Just to name a couple he was the founder of COHA also started the apprectice hunter program in Ontario and he promotes our sport. Think about it

I'd be his biggest fan if he could get me on one of those "management Mulie" hunts he went on in Alberta.

LOL...management mulie hunts.....I almost laughed out loud when I heard him call his small buck a 'management hunt buck'. It was a small buck...big deal...but dont cover up and call it a management buck. That wasnt the purpose of the hunt.

Pigeon is a bit of a goof....he is pretty much just an amatuer who is a good actor and is learning how to hunt properly if you ask me. Good personality and I think he's sincere about everything, but isnt experienced enough for me to respect as a hunter. He makes horribel shots...the caribou eposide was a joke with him flinging arrows at unknown distances at moving caribou.....

Hunting Canada and Beyond is true Canadian hunting.....

I think a new host would make CITR a much better show...Pigeon seems like a good guy and a guy working for our sport, but really doesnt portray what most hunters in Canada are or strive to be.....

Bit of a Goof??????
Right... you are way more professional and experienced than Thomas...
You have shot way more game and have travelled all over the world. You undoubtedly got an A in Drama and turn down offers from Hollywood daily. Your hunting prowess is off the chart. You are obviously too busy traveling the world and hunting to start your own show and syndicate it on National Television. Your contribution to the sport is overwhelming and only overshadowed by your many stories and hundreds of pictures of successful hunts posted here.
Hacking on a guy and calling him a goof when there is absolutely no chance of him calling you on it certainly makes you the better man...

Chuck Hawkes has a B.A. in Political science... and studied international affairs. He has no accreditation in Journalism, Gunsmithing, Firearms or Hunting... Period! He apparently was too stupid to get a job in his field.
He took up plagiarizing other writers works on the Internet and now every flake that can Google gets his nonsense and reads it!
I feel sorry for you idiots who believe his unqualified bulls**t!

Is this kinda what you're talking about hackin on a guy when he cant defend himself? Dont spout off on me when you are just as guilty as doing the same chit. Thats as hypocritical as it gets....

I dont like Thomas Pigeon....big deal. I think its a bit 'goofy' when I see a guy fling an arrow at a moving caribou at a distance that he admitted he had not practiced to previously.....its unethical and STUPID. I think Thomas seems like a very intelligent person who is passionatly devoted to the outdoors, but I think in terms of a host he's a bit goofy. Nowhere did I say I was smarter, more experienced, etc....I merely posted my OPINION on him as a host. If you cant see that, then I guess thats your deal.....

I dont like Thomas and you do...big deal. I dont like Chuck Hawkes either.....lol

Point taken...
Hypocritical? Maybe in a broad sense... But Chuck Hawkes attacks foreign gun makers for no other reason that they are foreign! And the statements I made about him are factual and well documented!:canadaFlag:
On the other hand you attacked Thomas and called him a Goof when he has not attacked or made any negative statements about anything or anybody! You admit in your latest post that he does a lot for the sport and hunting in Canada.
In my opinion you should only call a guy a goof to his face... or when at least he can defend himself personally.
I guarantee you would not call Thomas a Goof to his face.
JBRO... you are entitled to yours!

True that BIGGREDD....I most likely wouldnt call him a goof to his face....its an opinion I share about him as a host and not a fan of his, but I think he's probably a really decent character and I can tell he's doing good things for the sport and with COHA, etc.

Anyways...no biggie....I'm just personally not a fan of his and some of the things I've seen him do on his show. My 'beef' is mostly with the way he hunts on TV and how he portrays Canadian hunters. Some real unethical shooting, and just some things that havent sat right with me. My beef is not with the person, but with the way he portrays himself on the show. Either way, I've got WildTV now so CITR doesnt get turned on very much anymore.

Guess it all comes down to personal opinions. Sometimes we all dont have to like everyone we see or watch on TV.....
