Not sure if this is the place for this. mods feel free to move this if there is a more appropriate location for this.

Once I was able to order my reloading components from the US , at one point I was even buying them from ebay with no problems.
Now I just got this letter in the mail.

Thats brutle alright. I was just discussing this with another person today about how the American/Canadian gov't live in a fearful, paranoid state of mind. Sad to live that way terroists or not. Lots of dealers have quit bothering to send componets our way. Pain in the ass for sure.

I imagine you got the requisite import license for those bullets? If so, did the rules change recently? I received 1000 bullets only 40 days ago...

Like Tim said, since when are bullets considered munitions?

Is this a simple case of meddlesome ignorance? I would definitely dispute it.

We no sooner loose "small claims court" then the snivel serpents start to get officious again. The bullets don't meet any of the descriptions in that silly letter but the prick that signed it knows it ain't worth the legal cost to try and set him straight.

Come on CSSA and NFA. This ought to be right up your alley. Get the man his bullets back.

No. I do not have an import licence.
I never had problems in the past buying components from the US and getting in the mail, until this incident that is.
I don’t know if I just got unlucky, if they do random spot checks or what the deal is.
Im trying to find info’ on the website they attached on the bottom of the letter.
As far as getting the bullets back ….
I can’t blame they guy that I bought them off since it’s not his fault that the guys at the borders are ignorant.
And in the letter its written “disposal according to regulations” so I am assuming they are destroyed.

The letter says that the bullets were siezed on behalf of Canada Post nothing to do with import/export regulations. Accordingly No bullets can be shipped in Canada? !

Odd that a few months ago the CBSA charged me tax on a clearly declared box of "BULLETS/6.5mmx1000". A month before that they inspected a box of "Cast Bullets"

Might I suggest that we organize a bullet mailathon. Basically get 100 or 200 gunnutz to mail each other ONE bullet or unprimed (never used) piece of brass. Clearly lable each package as to contents affix a copy of the postal regulations. Maybe some of the dealers on here who sell such components would be interested in helping out?

Or we can just all get used to melting wheel wieghts and compete for swaging machines on the EE.

That's funny, I mail cast bullets all over Canada and beyond, to my friends, and have never had a problem with CP in this regard. The businesses that i deal with in the USA will not ship any bullets to Canada(individuals), but this is a US export problem, not Can. Cus. or CP.

Note that this applies to ALL SHIPMENTS of components WITHIN CANADA as well, not just importing.

This is NOT AN IMPORT ISSUE but a CANADA POST MAIL issue.

If this holds true, then we wouldn't be able to mail any bullets or components within Canada!!!!

I am sure that some pencil neck saw the word "Bullets" and assumed it meant loaded cartridges/munitions.

I am pretty sure this is the issue here. It is true that Can post don't ship live ammo's, so the CBSA agent may just don't understand the difference between cartrige and bullet. In fact i personnaly often hear the mistake spoken by different peoples including the medias. It's as frequent as the clip vs. magazine mistake.

an IIC is not a permit. It is not required for imports. It is required by the US for granting of an export permit. The IIC replaces the old system of end user certificates

Thanks for clearing that up.

This case is pretty amazing. CBSA misinterpreted CP regulations and enforced them for them. How ridiculous can you get...
