Canada Post Love-Hate and All Things "Shipping" Thread

P.S - if it is marked as a firearm it might be on it's way back to the sender... CP's new policy on firearms is that they MUST be shipped regular post with signature required... Xpress Post is no longer an option for firearms... some pissy CP worker might have caught that and sent it back.

It will show up... I have had this happen a dozen times... some new trainee put it on the wrong shelf somewhere and they misplaced it... someone else will find it and move it along... have a beer and watch Big Bang Theory and chill out... you'll drive yourself crazy watching the CP tracking site...

Too funny... I actually am watching Big Bang theory!... and yes, I've been driving myself crazy watching the CP site.

I didn't mark it. Hopefully, everything is ok. Personally, I hope it is on its way back to me... and I'll ship it with a reputable courier.

It's quite comical how they think that they can put policy into effect sometimes.
One guy said to my buddy a few years " Is that a gun? We don't ship guns here" "Nope, and BTW, it's NONE OF YOUR DAM BUSINESS what it is!! I need your supervisor's name, BTW!"
big stink up, and trying to flex his muscles, didn't work. The arsepick was known for this, my friend simply loaded some golf clubs up in a Remington box and wrapped it up- quite embarrassing when he opened it up in front of the supervisor, which he insisted on doing!LOL!
The jackwads managed to drop a double pelican case off a truck and smashed it up- they must have worked at it for sure, double carboard armoured on the outside as well, with two custom made Fclass rifles inside . Insurance was paid out on that one.

CP lost one coming to me a little over a year ago. Never found.
Fortunately, the gunnut I was dealing with was kind enough to refund my money.

He felt somewhat responsible, since no insurance and no signature.

AFAIK, CP never did a thing for him. The RCMP here were not in the least interested in the
fact that I felt it was stolen here. They said that it was lost mail, and they did not get involved beyond opening a file.

Tracking showed that it was here, and that it was delivered to my place....but I was home, and no parcel came here that day.
I kind of felt that it was an internal thief who saw the opportunity and made off with it, then marked it as delivered.

Be sure you insure, ask for a signature on delivery, and ship surface mail only.

Regards, Dave.

I have had this happen with CP and Canpar. Both lost my firearms and had no answer to where it was. CP was at least helpful and kept me informed on what was happening.

Both companies found the rifles and the packages where delivered without any damage. Canpar was 2 weeks finding it and CP was 5 days.

I would try not to think about it as much any more, I would bet they will find it. Like Hoytcannon said some rookie likely placed it in the wrong spot and it will take them a week to figure it out.

Fingers crossed for ya.

CP is rarely on time with Expresspost in my experience. Regular parcel post seems to travel at the same speed, by the same ground methods, and costs a lot less, even fully insured. I wouldn't sweat a few days over Expresspost delivery times one bit. CP tracking is plenty flawed too, might as well relax for now. And when it shows up, make a claim for your postage costs since it didn't meet the delivery standard you paid for.

Really crappy situation. Only Advice I would offer is never ship anything your not willing to lose with CP, they are really that awful.... and If you feel you have to ship it for more then what its simply worth. If its a 1500 rifle it may cost 2000 grand to actually get a replacement. If older and hard to get make sure you look what replacement cost would be. Really sucks to hear stuff like this, hope it shows up for you

Hey Kurgan, do you happen to remember the serial number? Just wondering if I need to dig out the door to my shop to get to my grinder.

I kid. Put the hammer and nails away!

I just had a rifle take a detour to the East coast on its way to the West coast. Took twice as long as advertised. I hope you find your rifle.

In my opinion, you're freaking out waaaay too early. It will show up. 99.9% guaranteed. Patience, grasshopah. Plus, you'll get your money back for shipping costs since it's late.

OK, guys. I'll relax. I wouldn't normally sweat it for a Remington, Savage or Tikka, but this rifle is exceptional and one-of-a-kind. Never had a late CP parcel before, I guess I was lucky.

CP is the worst and their claims process is lower than low. I had a rifle shipped from back east fully insured. It was inside a padded hard plastic transport case that was then inside a cardboard box and they still managed to damage the rifle and take 5 months to decide if they were going to pay.

A few months ago I shipped a rifle and CP missed the delivery date.
Claim was made and they sent the refund to the buyer.
Early this month tracking showed the package delivered and in transit.
Started a claim and it was delivered late.
With the claim info I initiated the refund, and was told the cheque would be mailed to me.
The refund included the amount paid for insurance as well.
When I explained the previous refund she told me that was wrong . . . it was my claim.

The Kurgan,

it happens to me few years ago. a rifle lost in BC after a phone call to the RCMP and their visit to the local post office the parcel was found back ...

it will appears again.

keep hope.

Phil

Mine was late (stuck "in-transit") by 2 weeks by the time it showed up. I don't think you have reason to worry about anything except maybe getting a refund on that Express post option.
