Canada Post Love-Hate and All Things "Shipping" Thread

If I had a dime for every package. Of ours that was late and a dime for every rude email or call from customers saying"wheres my f+@#+g Order or the tracking number does not work, I'm going to do a charge back if I don't get my order within 48hrs...
I would be able buy everyone in this thread a new gun.
We spend $100,000+ with canada post, the service is no batter for us just a little bit cheaper.
Can par are worse and super slow.
That said I'm good buddys with all the delivery guys, nice little token at xmass, few I have taken to the range.
But you really don't get what you payfor with Canada post.
Ther is a big buy up of courior companies happening for canada at the moment, much like the big security company buy up of the early 2000,s.
Lumis, can par, dhl, tnt and now one company. They are looking at a big push in canada over the next few years. At discount rates.

PS and they all ship firearms with no issues

No, they don't... they will if you have a corporate account... but most will not ship for random citizens... I made about 20 calls and visits to couriers (including CanPar, Purolator and FedEx) to get a gun from a city within Ontario to another Ontario city with no luck... I finally had my LGS use their corporate account to pick-up and deliver.

OK, guys. I'll relax. I wouldn't normally sweat it for a Remington, Savage or Tikka, but this rifle is exceptional and one-of-a-kind. Never had a late CP parcel before, I guess I was lucky.

I had exactly the same situation last year. The rifle was shipped from Edmonton to Toronto, hit the CP warehouse and, according to the tracking system, headed to BC for unknown reason. I have started making waves right after seeing Victoria, BC in my tracking info. Finally, after making a big noise and contacting the CP ombudsman, it had appeared to be a glitch in the tracking database, which confused everyone.
The rifle was sittin in the Toronto CP warehouse for three weeks, although there were all evidences that it is somewhere in transit between Toronto and Victoria.
I would suggest you to call to the Edmonton CP warehouse and ask them to check it manually. the rifle may sit somewhere there on the shelf.
Good luck

Haven't had any goof-up's with CP per se. The occasional package may arrive a bit later than estimated, but overall they work fine with me. :)

The thing that pisses me off the most about shipping goods is that most folks have only a basic idea on how to package items, resulting in damage. A lot of big outfits as well as individual senders really gotta learn the art
of proper, secure packaging to avoid hassles.

Surely not?

Received this package from a CGN member...

... who is still advertising firearms for sale here.

Great packing job! Arrived just as you see it. :runaway:

Back on the original topic, I would not lose a lot of sleep yet, Kurgan. I had one that went from here to the East coast, then back to BC, before it got delivered properly there

Best,
Ted

I had two firearms - one shotgun and one rifle go missing with CP. One took four weeks to find and the other took a week. Called the police, they couldn't have cared less.

My last two purchases arrived from the store via Xpresspot and a day earlier than expected.

Years ago my Brother bought a very expensive double shotgun from a very reputable shop and was furious when all they did was wrap it in several sheets of newspaper held together with electrical tape.
His name and address were torn off in transit not surprisingly and the only part remaining was his postal code, yet it made it into his hands..... needless to say the gun shop owner got a real earfull....

:eek:That's inexcusable!! Not a situation I've run into. Any and all I've received or sent have been well packaged and then some.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think you are legally allowed to ship a firearm via Expresspost

You are so wrong it is stupid... why would you think such a thing? I send and receive over a hundred a year that way... and my post office and my delivery person is fully aware they are firearms.

I bought a rifle from clay at prophet River.
He said 7-10days. 3 weeks later I call. We both checkd the tracking number.
It was a dud. He contacted Canada post. They said they had no clue where it was.

In the mix up. Clay (being the stand up guy he is). Grabbed another one rifle. And sent it to me.
His words were " if the first one shows up, return to sender"
Over a year now. Haven't seen a gun pop up. Also haven't heard back form prophet River.

I spoke with a rep from CP. He had no idea whether or not there's an issue shipping via Xpost. A bit of internet searching did yield some mixed information, but it does appear that long guns are to be shipped Ground only. The CP rep did confirm that the rifle was on a truck as far as Winnipeg, and that it's now off the radar. It was shipped on Tuesday morning, and by this time, it should be further along. Hoping CP is just late this time.

Have you checked at your post office? Not meaning to be smart... CP tracking is anywhere from a min to a week out hell I have see where I had package in hand an tracking was still saying it at senders end

I will gladly pay more for shipping to avoid Canada Post. The last half dozen packages that were supposed to be doorstep delivery were all screwed up. The last one was contact lenses that were put in my super box and froze before I collected them. Idiot didn't even try the door and I was home all day. I would never send anything via CP, especially an heirloom rifle.
