I have not had a problem with CP yet..... But one of these days when I'm home instead of the other half... I'm gonna ask the Canpar guy why he has to ask her so many damn questions. Since when do they need to ask what it is????

It added new meaning to the word "anticipation". I felt bad for the poor CGN'er who shipped it. He had some serious discussions with C.P. and if not for him, it would have spent all eternity making that same round trip.
I think someone at CP took note that I receive guns in the mail as most of my parcels are never delivered to me anymore... they don't even attempt delivery... just put the notice at my door. It's pissing me off. I paid for delivery to my home, not delivery 5 miles away from me. I should be getting my postage back and my gas

I put a note in my community box - that I'm home when expecting a delivery (tracked ones).
So s/he (he mostly) knows that someone is home.
he doesn't even come up to my door or hang it on my door anymore, just left it in the community box.

One particular gun shop I buy from use a thin strip of polyethylene on each end of the carton when packaging so the muzzle or butt of a long gun cannot smash through and when they pack the firearm it cannot move at all.
Its worth the trouble unpacking just to know the gun arrived intact and clean...

I think it varies from postal station to postal station. I had firearms related mail and packages inbound and outbound go missing from one station and when I switched to another station in the city no more problems.
I presumed it was an anti-gunner
in the problematic station because most of the mail that was addressed to and from gun related dealers and companies wasn't valuable.

I think this is the issue here too. I'm expecting a couple other packages and if they're not delivered to my door I'm going to raise a stink. At least try to get my postage back if they're going to make me pick the stuff up... Lazy bums. My friend is a postie and he tells me how lazy his co-workers are... he has 2 titanium hips and he still gets the job done properly.

I had that happen to a rifle I sent out. Now I put 4-5 layers of cardboard on the muzzle end and butt end of the box and tape the hell out of it.
Most of the damaged packages that I get are from items in that package not being properly packaged...Please shippers wrap the Sh** out of muzzels..sights..pointy stuff in general. I for one am tired of getting guns that are not packed well..ALL too easy to blame Canada Post..They are not perfect but good packing goes a long way!!

08:56 WINDSOR Attempted delivery. Notice card left indicating where item can be picked up. Read this and looked outside at 10am, no notification card.
I was home, nobody was at my door at that time. I watched as my regular mailman (lettermail) delivered my Notification card at 11am! Parcel was never delivered to me. It says on the card that the package is "held by request of the shipper" and I confirmed that this wasn't the case. My last parcel was setup this way as well. Too lazy to deliver my parcel. CP is horrible. I'm sure it's because they know the packages are firearm related. What a bunch of idiots. Now I have to waste my gas and time to pickup my long gun when it should have been in my hands this morning. I'm sorry, but putting "Attempted Delivery" when no delivery was tried just pisses me off. I was waiting around for this parcel and paid to have it "delivered to me".

I guess I'm just lucky - my letter carrier is a gun guy. He always asks me to let him have my American Hunter magazines after I'm done with them, if there's a piece he is interested in. And, when he brings a long, kinda heavy package, he will always lean over and whisper (so my neighbors can't hear him) "is it a new gun????"...he's almost as excited as I am when I get a new toy...

Guess you know who your regular delivery person votes for.
It wouldn't be the post master that made the call to refuse delivery it would have been the person handling the packages that put in a complaint. Its probably in a union clause that they don't have to handle "suspicious" packages or packages beyond a certain weight/size that could be physically demanding.

I guess I'm just lucky - my letter carrier is a gun guy. He always asks me to let him have my American Hunter magazines after I'm done with them, if there's a piece he is interested in. And, when he brings a long, kinda heavy package, he will always lean over and whisper (so my neighbors can't hear him) "is it a new gun????"...he's almost as excited as I am when I get a new toy...
Ya whispering is a good plan. One complaint from a neighbor about a mailman inquiring about a packages contents would probably put him on the short list at work.....
Allthough a buddy of mine was asked at the post ofice what it is he is shipping and receiving all the time (he buys & sells fromm the EE) to which he replied. "Oh well it should say what it is right on the package there next to the address, no? Oh well I guess that's none of your buisness then is it?"

I disagree. If the shipper had packaged that properly there wouldn't have been room enough inside the package to allow your rifle to slide around and poke its way out. It's the shippers responsibility to ensure packages are CP employee proof. JMO
