canadain forces is gettin new pistols

so who exactly uses the BHP?

in the navy we use the SIG P225, and I've heard we're replacing them with the P226 because that's what the SPEC units are using.

I too heard they were getting P226 in 9mm. Of course the US will probably go back to the 45 and then the CF will have to start all over over again.

Really? So much for training and universality of service. I can shoot and strip a SIG with my eyes closed but I've never even laid eyes on a BHP.

You don't want to.... Our Hi Powers are beaten to death and regularly seem to jam on the range, however YMMV. Requiring the mag to be inserted to fire the action is also a ridiculous feature... You have to watch the line to make sure someone doesn't grab a full mag or the one-left-in-the-mag to clear their weapon.

How about we trade? You can have our hi-powers and we'll gladly take the SIGs!

While your at it, some of those MP5's from the boarding parties would be nice too! ;-)

f:P: no issues clearing it with a full mag. It's the idiots that don't allow the action to go forwards first before putting a mag in.

Boarding Parties (West Coast) are now using the C8 - but they're still using the MP5 sling, and the infantry LBG (???) - not too functional over/under a life preserver.

I think Jeff Cooper had the right idea when he sugested that soldiers buy their own pistolsl and just hand in the recipts.
9mm of course ,and unblocked mags.

I know they want them to be made in Canada and all for creating work but our soldiers should have the most reliable guns available, no matter where they're made.

Glock 17s should churn along nicely in the sandbox.

Great idea's until you are over sea's and require replacement parts or need to grab an extra full mag off someone. That, and you would be limited to 10 rounds.

Oh, and if they can't figure out a program like that for combat boots, I doubt they could get it right for pistols.

MP's use the P225 as well. And like it was said before, no problem with firing the action off with a full or partial mag provided the user isn't inserting it before letting the slide go forward...
