I, and I'm probably not alone, have been searching for a "yoke" for my Canadian 1916 leather set for approx 20 years. Saw one at the Easter show, but there was a price tag of $3500 on the incomplete set. Yup, three thousand, five hundred. I don't know, who is the dummy, the guy asking for that kind of money, or the guy paying? And it is just the yoke that is extremely difficult to find, so they were basically asking $3500 for the yoke.
Anyway, I found a guy who started to make a reproduction yoke or Y strap for the Canadian 1916 set, and here it is. I think it is an outstanding repro. It is the only reproduction 'anything', that I have, but I can now at least display the set as it should be.
He can make them in the "issue" size, or can make them larger for anyone who wants to wear it for re-enactment. I chose for the display size. I think the quality is probably at least as good as the original for leather, stitching and buckles.
Now I just have to get that 100 years of oil and dirt look to the leather.
The back pack also has an original 59th Bn stamp.
Here 'tis.
