Okay...so... WTF does a "tanked" cdn $ have to do with selling used guns into the CDN market place? I am seeing guys trying to unload CZ's used for well over double what they paid new! SAN's for more than retail and some alluding to to a low dollar for reasoning. If I paid $600 for my CZ new(which they were) WTF makes it worth ( in their eyes) $1200-$1500 now....lol. Guys....please... explain this nonsense. And don't give me the BS of "what the market will bear" or "supply and demand" either....

I doubt it is that the person feels the gun is worth $1500. But more so that they are hoping to get it from someone desperate enough to pay that. Lol.

The reasoning behind all the craziness? I can only try and guess. I have heard a few importers have been thinking and inquiring about importing more rifles. If that is possible, they will likely have a higher price tag. Not that high! But higher then before.

Id also imagine that a lot will depend on the coming election. No importer in their right mind will want to be caught with a huge stock of 858 in the event NDP wins majority. So even if they bring more in, i would guess it depends on conservative win, and even then might take a while.

If you don't believe in the free market, supply and demand, or what the market will bear, there is really no explanation that will satisfy you.

Hopefully people are quick and smart enough to do their homework and not just blindly pay, based on similar products in the listings. Good post OP, maybe this will, if not prevent, at least slow down those trying to take advantage of the situation. Bad enough we're held hostage by our currency, no need to get raped by our own people.

ok i buy a car, say honda civic, i pay 24000$ for it
one year passes it is now worth say 19200$ seems fair? thats 20% off sounds fair to me.

ok but now the dollar tanks, that new model civic is now 30000$, holy sh!t!
my car, who is still 1 year old is now worth 24000$, why is that? well 20% of 30000 is 24000$ so still same amount of fair.

The fact that i am selling a one year old car the same amount that i paid for it 1 year ago is absolutely no concern in this calculation.

now say the dollar really tanked really bad, yah, new model civic is now worth 40000$
1 year old civic is worth 32000$, yep
you just made 8000$, yep

the reason why your goods are now worth more IS BECAUSE the dollar tanked! Thats why inflation is super dangerous when the dollar drops, because people buy STUFF in exchange for their saved dollars, because the dollar is worth less, and the more they do this the more the dollar is worth less, and you cascade into a spiral.

How about just saying they are greedy and stupidly greedy at that?

So what if people are... If the market works with those prices, that is what market value is.
Go buy another one from somewhere right this minute... Oh, you cant. So its a sellers market.

Bet your also mad people who paid $20 for a lee enfield or $50 for garands sell them for 20times their 'original value'....

Huh? i hope you ain't serious..... Or maybe it's me that doesn't understand your explanation cause I was laughing so hard I blew ice cold Corona outta my nostrils....

Not really. Devaluation in this case is based on the original price, in the books. Also, my last year's loony, today is still worth $1. However, the market may and probably will up the selling price of your 1 year old Honda.

Bingo!
If I had bought gold 20 years ago at 350\oz, do you think I should sell it now at 350\oz?

Boys, its open season on whatever you want. Always. If you don't like the price, don't buy. Vote with your dollars. Simple.
That being said, when my employer says "cost of living increase is .75%, cause that what inflation is...blah blah, f'in, blah", I call total BULLCHIT! anybody who buys groceries\gas\products knows damned well that the dollar is going a much shorter distance as even just a couple years ago.

nope youre both wrong, but thats fine, thats ok, if you devalue on original price you're not paying attention. i dont want to explain, someone else surely will...
when a dollar drop, commodities are what people will put their money into, and the more they do that, the more commodities will increase in value.

The CSA rifles go for $1000 right now , its the only other VZ58 type rifle on the market . would make no sense to sell a 858 much cheaper than a CSA rifle ,, the CZ gun is even made better and comes with 2 more mags and a bayonet .. everything has gone up at least 10% since 858s were last sold . look how much Norinco M305s have gone up, doubled in 3 years , and ammo .

You know... after reading how passionate some of you free enterprisers are about gouging the ####e outta each other, I have come to the sad conclusion that I can't beat you.... So I'll join ya.... I am going to list my bro inlaws POS Norinco AR for $1800. Hey don't hate me.... didn't ya all hear the Chinese economy is in the dumper....

Yeah but selling a used rifle even using the $1000 value doesn't make it $1500 lol

yah, you might sell it, norincos are super popular here, some say they work just as good as colts, so why not.

Not really correct either. Your last year's looney is still a $1, but last year's looney bought you more a year ago than it does today.

Go for it... If it sells, power to you.
If it doesnt, then the market dictated your price was too high. Funny how that works eh. But supply and demand, and market bearing dont apply or you dont want to hear about it.
The equivelant of a kid with their fingers in the ear screaming 'i cant hear you'

Dont like the truth... Dont ask the question. Free market, welcome to canada.

Hey...ain't you da guy selling that CZ for like $1500....lol

Everyone complains about the 'gougers'. But how about the 'whiners'.
I think this group is worse than any other gouger.
Cant be happy for anyone, ever. Nothing pleases them... Ever complaining about something.
First it was the rifles will never be unprohibited. Then it was too slow of a process to get them back to their original classifcation. Then its not enough from the CPC. Then its people selling guns for more than they think its worth.
If party A sells his gun for X dollars, and party B buys for said amount, and they are both happy... Who the #### are you to say its not fair? Party A got what they wanted, party B paid what they were willing... And life goes on.
