Canadian AR-15 suppliers

Soon I will be in the market of picking up an AR. I haven't owned one in 15 years and such I am outta the loop.

I am not against picking up a used one because I think I will be tricking it out anyways. A worn out barrel is not much of a concern

Any help would be apprciated.


Also what barrel twist would you guys reccomend? I am hoping to use a 75-77 grain bullet. Is a 1:7 too tight?

1-in-7 is best for those bullet weights. Anything less than that wouldn't stabilize the round.

I live in calgary so I have heard of the the shooting edge. I heard they were not getting DPMS stuff in because they were having problems. Something like that.

what do you guys think of STAG?

They are a very high quality manufacturer. The only gripe I've heard about them is that people don't like the look of the deer head rollmark. Despite their lack of advertising, they *do* make 1-in-7 barrels, but you may have a hard time getting one.

Edit: Make sure to check out the http://www.ar15.com forums if you haven't done so already. Incredible amounts of knowledge there.

a 1:9 barrel would be fine too. The 1:9 will shoot at least 62 grains bullets won't it?

So bottom line you'd reccomend the STAG. That good to know.

A 1-in-9 will shoot 62 grains fine, but marginally less accurate than a 1-in-7. Probably not enough to notice.
