Hello!
is the Inglis still the workhorse? I heard that they were all manufactured during WW2 and refurbished since then?
Any good site to know more about this pistol? ( and other light weapons in service in Canada, except the official sites where there is not much interesting) Thanks in advance.

I heard that they should be replaced in a near future. Is it true?

Yes they were made in the 40's

Lots of posts here on them, search function should find them

No plans to replace them, although the Navy, MP's and the Ski team uses Sigs
 
I don't get the "ski team" reference. My quess is some special units may train in skiing and the best places to do this is at a Ski Resort. Is my guess close? Years ago one of our SKI PATROL members was a RCMP officer and because of his skiing abilities was assigned to ski at WHISTLER with PM TRUDEAU.

All magazines have a limited life-span.

Although the US gun sites still today consider Inglis mags to be top-drawer that may be because they still have new ones.

Read some of the 1911 ex-purts about when to replace their mags.

For some reason, 60+ years seems somewhat excessive.


Personal preference for me is a un-chintze extended safety, and a non-biting hammer (but only because I prefer my guns to not make ME bleed).

Considering that Shilo depot had pallets of the old WWII british fuel can back in the 80's, finding Ross rifles in Cosmoline would not surprise me. On another forum a thread about old stuff found in warehouses included the remains of a WWII German soldier with full kit found in a Ammo bunker after they cut the locks off in 1980's. :eek:
 
A reliable source told me that if you have problems with a previously issued Browning and are on your way to KAF, simply request a new one. Since there are about 4,000 available, you'll get one!
