Canadian Army requests rule exemption for members shooting IDPA

Directed right at ya!

If this is not directed at me please ignore the following.
It it is then of course it applies.

No I do not hold a "gold card"........well not an IDPA one at least. So no I do not currently shoot IDPA. That said I have shot various *DPAs in the past. I have considered shooting IDPA and even thought I might set it up at my club.

The only problem I ever had was the somewhat "s**tty" attitude that many of the IDPAer highter eschelon appear to have. This thread has confirmed much of that opinion. Of course the other problem of IDPA being privately owned is also a factor.
As it stands now I will not be sitting on the "side lines' as you suggest. Instead I think that I will keep on doing what I have been doing shooting and organizing IPSC matches, newbie shoots, expanding my clubs faciliities as well as acting as a liason between the club and the various police forces that utilize our facility. That is already enough to keep me busy.

The exemption does make sense but the disallowing of "civie" use of that exemption is problematic in my eyes. As I said before any rule that differentiates based on anything but proven skill level is patently wrong.

Yes Storm, it is directed right at you and the others in this thread.

I do see a "s**tty attitude" in this thread but I don't see it from any supposed higher eschelon?

I admit that you have been doing lots of good for the shooting sports and I hope that you continue doing this. We need more people to bring out new shooters and build up the ranks.

If you need some help filling out an IDPA membership form, just pm me. Until then I will catch you viewing from the sidelines.

I have to say i agree that we should all have the same rules. If i want to wear a hundred pounds of duty gear and a drop leg i see no reason why i shouldn't be allowed to if someone else is. That being said I wouldn't be interested in taking advantage of such a ruling anyways, i shoot ipsc from a Ghost race holster. I don't shoot IDPA cause they haven't gotten to my club yet.

I don't see any reason whynot either except for the fact that the rules say I can't unless I am a member of the above groups. What part of this did you miss in the above posts?

Ummm

I did...........

It is in the last sentence in my reply.

Stormbringer all you are doing here is trolling. I am surprised you are getting away with it even as a Moderator. Take out your asinine posts out of this thread and the replies to them and a 13 page thread is no more than two pages.

Take Care

Bob

He asked for a reply.

I replied

That is certainly not trolling.

btw...if this thread is 13 pages long you really should alter your CP settings. This is just page 2 for me.

Thats the million dollar question. Do any of you generally play a game or involve yourself in sports where one group gets special treatment? This seems kind of like telling the nascar guys to stay in 1st cause a monster truck guy wants to run on the circle track. To me practical gear is practical gear. If I'm allowed to run a bladetech, why not a serpa? Either way not really my problem, i don't play the idpa game. I just got an opinion on what i perceive as a BS rule.

You're making it your problem. aren't you.

Making an exception so a member of the Canadian Forces can get extra practice with their duty rig is a BS rule? Give your head a shake.

Trolling

It is okay to admit to being a troll. I will be trolling too this weekend.

But it will be beneficial. Hopefully I will be hooking into some good size lakers.

I will be over your way Wes. Hopefully you haven't taken any dumps in Williston lake as of late. I would hate to hook into that.

actually Storm all you have done is said you don't like the rules of a game you don't play. Great we get that......what I don't get is where you get off deciding what should or should not happen in that game(the one you don't play) You have stated that this exemption for a specific group will cause problems "if you continue with that logic" please enlighten us All Knowing and All Seeing Master of Time what those problems will be so that we lowly IDPA members can avoid them

I await your answer

(try typing it out in full rather than a cut and past of individual lines so perhaps we can see exactly what we have done to upset your delicate sense of right and wrong)

well dam, I am stuck doing dispatch all weekend , otherwise I would make a trip down thier to visit you :)

Acutally I have only said that I disagreed with the exception only applying to LEO/Military types. I have zero problem with the rules otherwise. I have also said that there exists a similar rule in IPSC with respect to Duty gear for Police and that I disagree with that rule as well.

Great we get that......what I don't get is where you get off deciding what should or should not happen in that game(the one you don't play)

When did I ever say that I should be able to decide? All I have ever said is I disagree with the note on the exemption.

You have stated that this exemption for a specific group will cause problems "if you continue with that logic"

You are combining two distinct points......I did not say that the exemption poses a problem..
I did say that Slavex's logic as per his attempt at an explaination does present problems for Canadians if one follows them to their logical conclusion. However that does not mean that the exemption itself causes the problems just that attempt at a logical explaination.

please enlighten us All Knowing and All Seeing Master of Time what those problems will be so that we lowly IDPA members can avoid them

What do you think I have been trying to do.........all I get in return is straw men....... quite funny actually that not one of you has addressed the one and only point that I have been trying to get to.

I await your answer
And you have it my good man.

Do you mean the individual sections I quote? Do you not prefer to actually have me address each of your points in turn as distinct arguments?

Perhaps if you were to do so with my posts you would have more straw in reserve for your sheep.
