Canadian Army to acquire semi-automatic sniper weapon

Sounds like they're looking for something in the PDW class as a secondary weapon for the sniper.

Nah. "The purpose of the weapon is to provide our snipers with a lighter weapon that can be used to deliver a high volume of precise fire at a shorter range (such as in built-up areas), and for quick engagement on fleeting targets or for sniper team protection."

That sounds more like a designated marksman rifle then a PDW to me. $5 says it'll be a AR-10 type rifle, if they ever actually buy any.

All I could read was:

semi-automatic sniper weapon

Why not call just it a "rifle"? Typical MSM anti-gun bias.

272 only?
Just get the US to send a few M21s over before the wall goes up. Drop in the bucket for them.
Whats a few dings and scratches?

On a more serious note, does Desert Tech produce a semi .308 bullpup sniper rifle?
That would be a nice gun if they do!

Edit: desert Tech .308 MDR.
From what DTA themselves have said, the accuracy they deem there MDR capable of it would not meet the requirements.

We have an HK MR308 that belongs to customer - did some homework and this or other HK would be my pick.

Shot a Daniel Defense .308 at CORE and it had no jams with many rounds pounded through by many shooters, unlike other AR-style .308s that we have seen.

I am a big DD fan, I got a m4v5 myself and also I know your a business owner with much much more experience then me. But I have heard that the DD 308 is not 100% with steel case ammo infact it was almost a jam-o-matic with steel case, from one youtuber down south. Now I know CF would not be running steel but there might be still be a requirement for running any 308 you can find? I don't have a clue about that part, but if Id be over sea's I would not want a gun that I have to watch witch ammo I feed it.

Just my opinion.

press release:
Heckler & Koch has confirmed that a modified version of its G28 rifle has won the Army's Compact Semi-Automatic Sniper System contract.

The gun will replace the M110 made by Knight's Armament as a culmination of the Army's desire for a shorter, lighter rifle that didn't sacrifice accuracy or performance. A press release from Heckler & Koch said the G28 is a light-weight variant of the 7.62 mm gas-powered G28 in use by the German Army, adjusted to fit the U.S. Army's requirements.
and so on

Boy that going to be one in the naquers of the KAC fan boys!
