Canadian barrel and stock makers

I have been trying to get an AR 15 30 HRT barrel made in Canada and nobody is up to the task so I needed to go south of the border. To bad there are very few dedicated gunsmiths in this country.

Did you contact Bob Jury? He has started doing AR barrels. Priced reasonable for a SS match custom contour as well. Search him on Facebook.

Although marked "made in Canada", I have heard that ATRS actions are made by Defiant Machine in the U.S.

When I stopped by to order my infidel action I saw them creating these vary actions on the CNC machine in house. So either this is a clever rouse on their part or your source is incorrect. Always good to clear these things up!

Always so direct. You make me laugh with nearly every post!

I did hear that very early on during prototyping there was some work done with Glen Harrison at Defiance, but Rick is doing all his work in house now. Even the bolts from what he told me at the last Poker Rally. He let me run one of his Infidel actions at the Poker Rally last year. Very nice action. I was quite impressed.

off to kamloops gunshow will place another post when I get back sunday or monday

maybe I heard a rumour that the OP for the rumour poster and his followers namely 6mt and smithynorth are employees of the competiiton and got fired from the action maker

see how easy it is to give wrong information on the internet without any reason to be honest,

maybe if the RULES (do we want to use and have rules) were that any rumours need to contain the name and address of where we got the information we might be able to PUNISH those people who wreck the reputation we would have a better info source

why do people not just ask if they are made in house or better yet call the manufacture instead of starting rumours

another example Jury barrels has ben lapping his barrels for over a year now, for those who want and maybe some regular customers as I understand from talking with him a few months ago and talking with custom gunworkz, but all the idiot experts just want to put him out of business with internet rumours, so unless some of us stick up for what used to be called THE TRUTH

then all is lost,

comprendy (do not expect anyone under 55 to understand that phrase)

now I am late leaving for BC

ta-ta all

remember the only 2 things people really understand in this life is PAIN AND MONEY think about it

Jefferson (someone who actually comnpetes and wins upon occasion) thanks schector 81 you make it all worthwhile even though I do not know who you are ; " )

For Canadian barrel makers I can definitely recommend Ron Smith. I don't know how his barrels fare in all of the sports, but in Schuetzen benchrest matches his barrels are absolutely at the top of the list.

Chris.

jury barrels out of red deer I would not use the other 3 mentioned they are past their prime to say the least, and yes I have shot all 3 and they used to be good barrels,

So you get mad at people for "slagging" others or spreading rumours, and then you yourself make a disparaging comment about 3 of the top barrel makers in Canada..........What gives???

I shoot a McPhee barrel and it has been great!!!

I also have a McPhee or two and zero complaints or issues. In fact Mick has built a rifle or two for me and ( with a better shooter than I behind the trigger ) I'd put them up against any rifle out there :)

Just because his barrels are on top of the Schuetzen list that does not make them great barrels. What is a great barrel? a SRBR barrel that "HAS" shoot sub aces all day long? a 600yd barrel that "MIGHT" take into account the load, bullet, powder, and scope, and shoot moa, a 1000yd barrel with all of the previous? what is a good barrel? just because he makes the best barrels for what ever sport, does not make him a great barrel maker, maybe for that sport. Quite frankly I do not know what a great barrel is.

When I look at the equipment list for the top schuetzen shooters in modern times the list is absolutely dominated by Ron's barrels. To me that means that they are pretty capable. People at the top of the game will always pick the components that they think will give them an edge of course. Like I say, I don't know how well his barrels do in the other shooting sports. Ron still competes too, and does quite well. I may be biased though, as I have several of his barrels, and another one coming. :)

Chris.
