My girlfriends father has a bit of an issue. He is a retired RCMP officer and many years ago he purchased a S&W Model 411. After he retired, he moved up north temporarily and didn't want to take the gun with him so he turned it over to the local police for storage until he returned home. While he was away, his PAL expired, therefore he lost his Prohibited status. He has tried to get his status back, but obviously they won't give it back to him. He would like to give the gun to either myself or his son, but neither of us are grandfathered so we can't take it either. It is still in storage at the local PD, but I don't think it can stay there for too much longer.
Is there a Canadian barrel option for this gun, or are we basically SOL on this issue?
