Ron Smith is also highly regarded for his GAIN TWIST barrels that are very cool and a must try. His name comes up anywhere in north america when gain twist is mentioned.

I have a couple of these, one in 240 Gibbs and one in 340 Wby. Both shoot very, very well. - dan

If you "google" (Gain-Twist barrel) you will find lots to read...

..basically it is a barrel where the rifling twist starts out with a slow twist and gradually changes to a faster twist as it gets closer to the muzzle.

Has anyone talked to Ron Smith in the last little while? My gunsmith buddy hasn't been able to get ahold of him. By the way I shoot 6 of Uncle Ronnies barrels with one more on order so I don't have to say whose I like.
