Canadian Barrel Markers

They will be Bergara.

With a lapped lug action, could work very well. I haven't seen any sets yet but they will come with a nut and wrench.

You would be way farther ahead to have the action trued. You only need to do it once... Get it straight and true and go from there... Lapping lugs is a backassward way of not fixing a problem.

This will be the biggest hurdle. Preset specs from the factory sold in bulk. No plan B likely for a year until volume impresses the factory. I have spoken to the importer and they aren't too swift on changing things on the fly.

GT, you are of course correct but this is an econo build with the end user looking for more variety and better then factory accuracy. If the action goes through a full meal deal tune up, wouldn't the barrel threads get changed in the process?

I suggested lapping so that at least the issue of lug contact would be addressed with minimal down time to the action.

The Savage will always be the better platform for this type of barrel swap but at least now, Rem owners can join the fun.

The truing I do does not enlarge the threads so much that you can not use a factory barrel dimension. Thread fit of a barrel to an action is better loose than tight. The geometry of 60 degree V threads allow it to center itself when tightened. It does not rely on a snug fit to line it up... in fact a tight fit may prevent it from a good fit on the action face.

It is very important the lug recesses, action thread and action face are in alignment with the bolt race way... and that the bolt lugs are machined true to the bolt body with the bolt face done as well... more so than lapping lugs for more contact. It will be the best $150 you spend on a 700 as far as I am concerned.

GT, I fully agree and at that price, every Rem shooter interested in better performance should send their action for a tune up.

Great stuff.

Will let you all know when the barrels actually become available. Should be soon????

Any interested Rem shooter that is interested in a barrel, visit here to see the specs on the barrel options at this time.

The video on how they make the barrels is kind of cool too.

The only question left is how do they shoot??????
