Canadian barrels

I've seem some semi's offered with "Canadian" barrels because as designed they don't meet the 106mm limit. I have to say I find they just look weird as if something is wrong with the gun. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to rain on anybody else's parade (you know "to each his own"/ "whatever floats your boat" and all that) but I just don't see the attraction. If the feds won't let us buy a certain gun why accept some bastardized version? The process works OK on revolvers or something like a Lugar but on a regular semi automatic it just looks way too odd to me.

Not picking on this gun in particular but here is an example of what I mean

 
I have a Glock 19 with a restricted length barrel, I bought it because it fits my hand better then the full size, and I don't really care how it looks because lets be honest here, all Glocks are kinda ugly :p
 
That's why you thread the muzzle and put on a mock suppressor. Those tiny guns are kind of useless anyways, so you might as well have some fun with them.

OK but that raises another, similar question. What is the point of a mock suppressor? What does it do? If you can't have a real one what's the point?

The restricted 106mm barrel on the G19 looks ok. The threaded barrel looks stupid IMO, but to each their own. Then there's the G26, G27, G29 with the 106mm barrel but I won't go there.
