I'm looking for a few pounds of bone char, and am having a hard time finding a source in Canada online.
Anybody have a source?

I did bring some Arctic Char home with me from Gjoa Haven last fall. It made me the neighbourhood hero.
Bone Charcoal is what I seek. But feel free to set me up with more Arctic Char!

Brownells used to have it available.
There is a guy down east that does case coloring might be able to help you.
Oskar Cobbs I believe in Nova Scotia or Cape Breton

Any green house supply shop will have bone charcoal available, green thumbs have a use for it I guess. I wouldn't have known this but my wife has run a couple greenhouse sales operations that always carried it.

I always just packed bone meal into a crucible and cooked it at about 1500f. Sometimes, I would just pack the parts in with it and carburize while making charcoal. I varied the temp. and soak depending on the part and composition. Worked great.

The worst part is the costly shipping. I found a place that was reasonable for a 5 pound sample to try it out....
I bet you can figure out what I'm going to attempt.
rwnblack, if you don't mind me asking, what does a 50lbs back cost to your door?

it is made from cremated test monkeys, or so they say.

Oh the irony will be sweet when we're fighting off the Great Ape Rebellion, and I'm using my monkey bone dust hardened Rolling Block...

Beautiful work rwnblack!
I'll get there one day. No actions yet, butt plates and things I won't miss destroying the first few tries...
