Canadian C-8 questions

Guys:

After two years after moving back to the U.S. from Montreal, Canada (miss that place) I finally was able to finish my C-8 clone. I pretty much used a 80% engraved receiver, but the rest of the parts were Diemaco and Colt. The only thing non Colt or Diemaco is the barrel, which is a BCM C-8 barrel. Just got a Colt six hole hand guards today, so it is ready to shoot.

The only things I need to completely finish it is a sling, light, and optic. What sling, light, and optic do the Canadian Forces use? I was going to put a Eotech 552, 553, or EXPS-3, but someone said that they were all sent back and C-79's were re-issued. I have a M-145 optic (U.S. Version of the C-79) and it is a pig. If Eotechs are still being issued or Canadian Forces went to Aimpoint or ACOG's, that would be good to know. Here is the picture of my C-8 clone almost done.


 
Sourced all Diemaco and Colt parts? Wow, did it the long hard and expensive way? I figured the SA15.7 would be the way to go, not impossible to find.

Our MPs use Eotechs on their C8s. Not sure about lights, and I've never seen them sling their C8s, but I imagine it would be the same one issued with out C7s.

Some people still use the EoTechs like Mister Donut mentioned but it might change very rapidly with the big issue that was found with it and the fact that L3 didn't disclose that information when they were selling them. The issued sling is an oldschool black nylon (correct me if I'm wrong) sling. We remove a part of it to fit it on the C7A2 but most units or guys buy their own slings. I use my own single-point/two-point sling that I bought.

As for your clone you could've gotten a real Colt Canada SA15.7, which is basically a semi-automatic C8 with Colt's real heavy barrel. I sold my BCM C8 barrel to a friend for a real one.
 
I've seen Insight M3X's at all the vaults I've been in, so it seems to be the most common.

The Eotech 552 is the usual reflex sight but, with the recent issues, they've all been sent back and most got the iron sight post stuck on.

Aaaaand slings are a crap shoot. About half the guys I work with (myself included) use personally purchased slings. Otherwise it's a basic black web sling.

I think he is in the US now. Very hard to find a sa15.7 in the US. Colt Canada complete guns aren't exportable into the US.

Yup, I only wish I could get a Diemaco SA-15 with their CHF. I blame Slick Willy for not allowing us to have your beautiful rifles. I have three complete Colt rifles and most my uppers are built using Colt parts, but I wish I could have a Diemaco

Montreal women are not representative of the rest of the country... Montreal is something of a worldwide unique phenomenon where it comes to women.
Vancouver= Bah unless you like women in flip flops, lululemon clothes and transvestite smoker voices
Toronto= double Bah

Sling wise, the simple black 2 point are the 'issue' slings, do you have a single point rear sling mount?

If you study photos, you will see some variations on slings depending on the Regiment.

Still have the Eotechs, sling is a one point bungee type but I'm unsure of brand and I will check the light on Monday. Pm me if you have any other questions and I will try my best to help.
 
We still have as an option based on operational requirement EOTech 552 sights. That is what I had at my last unit and on tour in the sandbox.

These are some great looking setups!

Here's my take on a C8A2. I know the optic isn't correct (working on that) but everything else is genuine Diemaco/CC, including the complete upper.
