I have access to quite a number of paper Challenger empty hulls and I am working up soft low-presssure partridge loads for my old guns this fall and wonder who actually makes the Challenger paper hulls.
I intend to make 2.5" roll-crimp loads and need the right load data, but first, I need to know exactly who makes the hulls.
I have load data for a lot of different shotshell hulls, but none for Challenger.
I know that many companies purchase (or contract) hulls from Rio, Fiocchi, Cheddite, etc. Who makes Challenger's hulls?
If anyone could help I would certainly appreciate it!
Cheers!

my guess is if there canadian there is no more data for them it is in books of the past and by now alot of the powders have changed or out right stoped being made

but if there paper hulls they make good blackpowder shells and if there a little thick dry them out

My plastic Challenger hulls had "Cheddite" stamped on the case head. Their primers are slightly larger than Win/Rem/CCI etc. They are a soft straight-walled hull with a separate base wad. Wads designed for compression formed hulls like Win AA do not work very well in them.

I've seen some say they are made in Spain and some say made in France.

Yes I do believe Cheddite makes them. And yeah, domestic primers won't be a good fit, you'll need to use Cheddite primers, but that's ok cause they are cheaper.

Heck, I think Ched is the only one who still makes paper hulls.
I'd almost be reluctant to use them. I've been told that you should not expect many firings out of them.

I would probably blow them off just for fun, it a more modern gun, using light target loads for clay shooting, and work up a load for the old guns using more sustainable modern hulls.

federal makes paper hulls still cant find anything on cheddite paper hulls(they still make them)

id sell them to someone who will use them for BP or if you have a 2 1/2" gun it would be best to use BP dont worry its easier to clean then a normal smokeles shell and plastic wads
