Seems this isn't a popular item anymore. Tubb doesn't make them anymore and they supplied Brownells. BAT Machine makes some, PTG makes some but are out of stock. Does anyone know who I could contact in Canada that may have one (.308 BF)?

Thanks,
Rooster

And it shouldn't be a popular item... about the worst thing you can do to a 700...

I have a used Sako extractor, spring and plunger I have removed from a converted 700 bolt I am scrapping...

$40 includes mailing...

Thanks Dennis, I tend to agree with you. However, I bought the rifle used (a high end action) which had the Sako assembly already installed. I'm kind of stuck. In reality, I believe the spring to be weak, as the case gets knocked off the extractor when it is pulled out of the chamber and gets to the point where it is almost out of the action - the mouth of the case strikes the front edge of the loading port and out comes the rim from the claw. Very annoying.

I just thought that if I could find a new assembly, I would at least have a spare claw if the claw wasn't, in fact, the problem. When I get home from work on Thursday, I'll measure mine and get back to you - seems PTG's, at least, are a bit narrower than others.

Yep, did that. Although it is better, that damn extractor just refuses to hold onto the rim hard enough to clear the front edge and eject cleanly out of the action. Sometimes yes, most times no. Bugger still spins the case around 180 degrees and sets it on top of the mag. Makes return to battery with the next round a wee bit difficult
