Canadian Handgun makers?

"...located in Scarborough, Ontario..." Markham, but close enough. They market nearly exclusively, Stateside. Canadians aren't eligible for any of their promotional contests or sales incentives either.

Para are nowhere near Markham. Tenexx is correct.

Para seem to think they are located in Scarborough. The differential between the volume of sales in the US as opposed to Canada is quite large but Para should be doing more for the home market.

I have heard that the Canadian Distributor network is not as amenable or capable of supporting the same sort of deals that Para runs in the US but I do not have a source attributable to Para or the distributors for this. I do know that Para was trying to get some sort of presence in the Canadian Defensive Pistol arena but things have stalled on that front.

Some people have had mixed experiences with Para, so far mine have been exemplary.

Before the USSR raid, I believe they were the Canadian Distributor and were pretty supportive of the community. I know Leon sold more than one pistol at cost to be used as prizes for various matches. I believe after they were raided, North Sylva got the distributor deal.

I had heard the same reports. Without a firmer source I do not want to unnecessarily malign North Sylvia over their support of Para products but I do know that their is willingness from within Para to get more involved in Canadian Defensive Pistol.

Until a year or two ago, Savage in Lakefield Ontario made bolt-action "Striker" .22 pistols.

Yeah, not as exciting as Paras or Dlask, but still a Canadian manufactured pistol.

DLASK - check out my very recent post wherein I've got a couple of pics of a Dlask 1911 SS that I just received.

Dlask is a small outfit, low production, high quality and upper end pricing.

Totally Canadian.

What has Para done for us in Canada? At least Dlask is pushing the envelope with innovations such as their non-restricted 870 short barrel and custom designed 1911's and their line of AR-15's. Apparently there are some more new things coming down the pipes soon. Para has poorly made receivers I think. Check the serrations on the 1911 frontstrap (they are all uneven length and look like crap). Mine had to go back twice to them for repairs and it was new. Never again.
