Nice man. I just restored one this year that i had to use repro wood on. And i have another waiting on another repro wood set. Butt stocks arnt to hard to find but fore stocks and hand guard are very

We need to see the forearm in order to know what is required. If it has been cut off at or ahead of the mid band and not altered behind that, you are in luck. An extension is not difficult to make and the splice can be made under the band. The upper wood is also not difficult to make and reproduction mid bands, band retainers and nose caps are available. I don't believe there is any reproduction wood currently available, although at least one member has plans to reproduce it at some point. If the forearm is not salvageable, a passable copy can be made from a sportered forearm off a Long Lee.

You appear to have a very worthy candidate - numbers matching, dust cover, correct magazine and M&D marked to boot. Plan to lay out about $450.00 to $600.00 for the metal bits.

Looks to be one of the 1000 RNWMP carbines acquired from the M&D in 1914. They stamped their rack numbers on the wood of the stock leaving the discs untouched. You can also faintly see the RNWMP roundel's dotted contour.

From gov site....

The 4th Princess Louise Dragoon Guards originated in Kingston, Ontario on 30 April 1875, when the '4th Provisional Regiment of Cavalry' was authorized to be formed. It was redesignated: '4th Regiment of Cavalry' on 7 May 1886; '4th Hussars' on 1 January 1893; and '4th Hussars of Canada' on 1 March 1932.

On 15 December 1936, it was amalgamated with the 'Princess Louise Dragoon Guards' (see below) and redesignated the '4th Princess Louise Dragoon Guards'. It was redesignated: '2nd (Reserve) Regiment, 4th Princess Louise Dragoon Guards' on 11 February 1941; '4th (Reserve) Reconnaissance Battalion, (4th Princess Louise Dragoon Guards)' on 1 April 1941; '4th (Reserve) Reconnaissance Regiment (4th Princess Louise Dragoon Guards), CAC' on 8 June 1942; '4th (Reserve) Reconnaissance Regiment (4th Princess Louise Dragoon Guards), RCAC' on 2 August 1945; '4th Armoured Car Regiment (4th Princess Louise Dragoon Guards), RCAC' on 19 June 1947; '4th Princess Louise Dragoon Guards (4th Armoured Car Regiment)' on 4 February 1949; and '4th Princess Louise Dragoon Guards' on 19 May 1958.

It was reduced to nil strength and transferred to the Supplementary Order of Battle on 12 February 1965.

Hi Pelcat. What you are looking at is the Enfield roundel with (Mk) I over (class) 1. JOHN

The Enfield roundel is present but you can clearly see an edge of the RNWMP roundel over the issue number. My RNWMP carbine is marked in the same manner, this can also bee seen on p.43, image 75 of Arms & Accoutrements of the Mounted Police 1873-1973. This carbine is undoubtedly RNWMP issue.

According to the book, all but 17 were surplused by the RCMP in 1960.
