Hi I'm interested in a lee Enfield for sale locally. I asked the seller if it said long branch on the receiver and if the s/n on the bolt handle matched. He messaged back to me that he can't find a long branch marking or a s/n on the bolt, but the s/n on the receiver has an L in it indicating it is canadian. The stock has been cut down but in the pic it looks like the barrel and receiver are untouched. I'm looking for a restoration project. Does the L sound right for canadian? What proof marks would it have? Any input would be great guys, thanks!

I don't think I have ever seen a Long Branch receiver without the words Longbranch clearly marked on the left side. It is remotely possible that a replacement receiver of another country's origin could be used to replace a damaged Longbranch receiver in foreign service, and therefore get the L in the serial number, but not likely, and especially not while in Cdn service.

LongBranch rifles are not particularly rare....we made close to a million of them. I would suggest you keep looking for a bit if it's a Canadian rifle you want.
